ACE's LP

A couple days ago a friend of mine told me Jeff George bought the Frehleyburst R9 i used to own, i traded it earlier in the year for a Greeny R9.

Are those pups essentially early Super D's? I mean that's the tone right there... but better. Looks like MV JMP too. Black LP with cream pups is still on my list.. might have to find an Edwards or Burnley on the cheap!

I assume you mean 'Burny'?
For aesthetic reasons, I preferred them to Edwards, because of the logo. My suggestion would be to at least check Burny, Greco, Tokai, Orville (by Gibson) and Edwards.
Be aware that Greco was doing guitars in the early 70's already, but a lot of their LP models had a bolt-on neck. From the late 70's onwards, their quality apparently began to increase. I owned a Black Greco LPC from the late 80's for a while and stupidly sold it.
But still hanging on to my 3 Burny's. 😉

Sorry yes Burny! Bizarre name but hey, the Japanese like odd things. I have a fantastic cream colored Edwards. I wouldn't hesitate to get another. It's heavy but has an ebony fretboard. Plays like butta'! You are right though, that Burny logo looks great. How do yours play? Did you need to make any adjustments?

They're awesome. Well, the RR LPC and the honeyburst standard are a bit moreso. I had the black LPC refretted and even though I did the same upgrades on both LPC's (Tusq nut, Grover 18:1 tuners, Gotoh bridge), the black one doesn't stay in tune as much. It's an '87, while the Randy Rhoads is an '83.
I replaced the electronics and pickups as well; 3 different setups:
RR LPC (Cream) : Seymour Duncan Custom/59 Hybrid bridge + Pearly Gates neck
Black LPC: DiMarzio Super Distortion bridge + 36th Anniv. PAF neck
Honeyburst standard: Dimarzio AT-1 Andy Timmons bridge + Air Norton neck (reversed, for added brightness).

All with push/pull pots for coilsplits. I'd say base tone, the RR is my #1 (I even had a custom engraved truss rod cover made with my own name), but the Dimarzio's definitely offer better split tones than most Duncan pickups.

You even got a python guitar strap to go with the RR. Great look!
