Hopefully there will be some better demo's soon...

In fact, send me a sample, and I'll demo if myself ;-)

ADA needs to get their shit together so bozos like this aren't the only ones representing their products.

Because Nuno's early tone was mostly 800's boosted with a rat or the 2205 boosted. The first album i think also had some LAney Protubes boosted with a rat. The tone we all want obviously is Pornografitti and i think that was indeed the ADA for the most part. This def sounds nothing like that.... agree with the others. They need better demos here. Why not get it to one of us?? I am sure we could put together better demos through our own power amps or effects return.

Here's another quick iPhone recording

If any of you guys could seriously do a nice video, please send me a few links and your information in a PM.

NO AMAZING ADA CHORUS?????!!!!!! That was one of the best parts of the original units. I'm not paying that much unless its the original circuit in a pedal form. Is this a preamp or just a pedal???

It's not an MP1 preamp clone ;) When it says "MP1 Channel", it is a reference to the MP1 tube path, clean and distortion voicing. That is what this pedal is...the original mp1 clean and distortion tube voicings at your feet.

Technically it is not a preamp but you CAN totally use it just like one =) I've been using my unit in the power section of my rack mount dual rectifier as well as direct via the ADA GCS-3 and both are awesome, with their own unique advantages.

I gotta be honest, it isn't blowing me away. I think I would need to hear it in the room.

I agree completely. Haven't really heard anything that makes me think it's the actual circuit (despite what's been said).

Yep, which is a bit of a problem when coupled to the fact it's $399. That's a lot of money for a pedal. Maybe ADA themselves will get around to doing some proper demo's to try and sell the thing a bit more? No way I'm spending that much based on what I've heard so far.

Agree. Monty Jay mate, you need to hit the streets and play this thing!

Also will this be distributed overseas? Or just via A/DA's website?

Not gonna happen, way too much going on right now. There are a lot of units out there for demo purposes and more should be coming up pretty soon. One thing to try and get past though, is the fact that this is in a pedal chassis. Would everyone be having the same thoughts if it were in a 1U rack chassis? I sorta think not, or at least not as much :) I know the demos so far aren't the best, most amazing things in the world, but its better than nothing until everyone can see one locally and check it out in person. I can tell you that I have been using ADA gear since 2000 off and on and I'm very familiar with the stock MP1 and all the modded versions, having owned a bunch of them over the years. This new MP1 Channel is right up there with them and exceeds them in some ways. I love the fact that I can just pick up the pedal with one and and go with it. Try that with a 1U original mp1. Sure you can do it, but its not the easiest carry, lol.

All ADA dealers will have them :)

I like that it's in a pedal chassis too, in fact.

I'm thinking about a year or so ahead when my financial situation has hopefully improved, about possibly getting a unit like this or a small preamp that I can plug into my Mesa/Boogie 50:50 stereo power amp and an oversized 2x12 cab for small gigs.

Which dealers in Australia stock A/DA?

I used to think $399 for a pedal was a bargain! That's Australia prices for ya...

Lol....I remember those days/talks :)

One thing to keep in mind though (truly) is that yes it is in a pedal chassis, but that doesn't limit it to traditional pedal applications. This does not stand equally with distortion pedals, either run of the mill or boutique...because its not a distortion pedal. No, it is not an entire mp1 clone either. It is the mp1's tube section. I can understand someone hearing $400, thinking of it as a generic distortion pedal, and slapping the mp1 name on it. That isn't the case here though, at all. Dave spent a lot of time with this so that when it became available, he would know its a product that has earned the right to wear that mp1 name. So think about having the tube section of your mp1 rack but now you can carry it with you even easier than before. All that tube preamp tone in a convenient package at a much lower price point than the original. Truuuuuue......it doesn't have other options like the original, but again it is not supposed to be a clone of the actual mp1 preamp, just the tube section :)

If this were in a 1U rack chassis and the same price, same features, would it be more easily justified? The original MP1 preamp sold for like $1,000, didn't it? Sure, you can grab a used one for around $250 these days but more often than not you have to deal with modifications or at least giving the units a little TLC. Today, a $400 "preamp" is a killer deal imo :) Throw in the fact that it is brand new, all components are high quality, hand selected tubes, and is covered for repairs (unlike the used units which can be finicky at times), it makes for a nice package imo.

I did receive some PMs from a few of you guys and I will get back to them asap, I promise :) I'm in the middle of a move that just seems to drag on and on, haha. But I will get back to you all when I can.

If ADA were to reissue the MP-1 pre - and it doesn't have to be exactly the same as previous units, but instead a new incarnation - and include the cab simulation, flange, chorus from their analog line of effects, AND include DSP for reverbs, delays, etc...........I think it would take the world by storm!!!!! I think it would really compete with units like the Fractal or Kemper for guys who want "their sound" and aren't trying to replicate every amp in the world. Let's be honest - how many players are ACTUALLY using all those amps/effects when they play out??? Don't get me wrong - they are invaluable tools for studio recording, but I had both the Kemper AND a Fractal Ultra and with each one, I used maybe 4 or 5 of the amps to get the sounds I needed. Just not cost effective when they cost almost $3000.

But a new MP-1 with it's legendary REAL TUBE tone - along with new features, effects, and improved I.O. options - would almost automatically find a place in my rig!!!!

What do you guys think?
Couldnt agree more I also think it would be cool if these new rack units featured more live friendly application and units more for a studio making it easier to not use studio settings live by accident lol
