Adam Jones tone on a budget for Tool cover band

Have you ever tried your modeler through a high quality PA speaker (12-15", $1k+)? Just curious as to how the Laney would compare. I would like to but have never seen one of those Laney cabs in store.
I've played through a pair of very nice QSCs a few times before I got the Laney. What I like about the Laney is that it feels just like having a real guitar cab on stage. It has a thump and a girth to the sound that I haven't gotten out of a PA monitor. I was the first one in my band to get the Laney, and after the first practice with it, the other guitarist and bassist ended up buying them as well. IMHO, it makes the modeler experience much more like playing a real amp. I got mine from Sweetwater.

Not a great picture, but you can see the three Laney cabs in it...

Feeling similarly. I think I will also bring the Wizard MTL MKII eventually but at first I would like to have a feeling of the stage, space, security etc.
I hear you man. I regularly gig my 84 Mesa Mark IIC+, always have. And the prices for those have gone insane. Sometimes I think about the possibility of theft but honestly don't worry much. You only live once. Use that shit.

When I was gigging I was always close to my gear. I had plenty of other nights to socialize. Also, as soon as we finished, it would get loaded in the vehicle, if at all possible and then driven right to the rehearsal space. I owned the vehicle used so I could control it better. I always let the band know that I didn’t mind taking it back and I would meet up later. That way they could mingle if people dug what we did.
Usually at least one would always volunteer to help out.

This was very helpful many thanks! I am also feeling closer to Edwards. Or a Maybach Lester.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, how to get all this feedback / noises with a modeller. A simpler version of this rig might be a 2x12 with a couple monitors. But not sure, it may not be cost efficient.

Fuck cost efficient!

As long as you aren’t on any silent stages a 2x12 pointed fairly close, or better yet, on a volume pedal so you can just bring it in as you need it, might go a long way.
