Albums that desperately need to be re-recorded/re-mixed or even re-mastered

all of the early 90's underground euro metal classics. but then again the bad production was part of the charm.

Kiss Hotter Than Hell for sure and Creatures of the Night. Drums sound like ass on creatures, and hotter than hell sounds kinda outta phase.

I'd like to hear Testament's Souls of Black remixed/reamp'd. pornograffitti too. It's way bright. Extreme's first album is mixed better. It has way more punch, at least on vinyl.

Strange Japanese metal. They used to be a more straightforward black metal band before branching out and getting weird, but they stuck to their black metal (shitty production) roots. There's some bangers on this album but it sounds like ass, would love to hear it recorded well.

Lamb Of God - Wrath (suffers from way too much compression, limiting and mastered way too loud, brickwalled)
Lamb Of God - As The Palaces Burn (terrible drum and bass tone)

There's problems with a couple their other albums to. Just mostly the bass tone or lack of bass guitar in general in their earlier albums, but those two above are the worst.

The problem with brickwalled records is that I'm so used to them that when I listen to an old school record it's too quiet. I listen to all my music on shuffle in the car. If a song from Paranoid comes on for example, I have to turn it way loud. Then if the next song is a recently recorded death metal song, it's screaming loud because I forgot to turn the volume back down.

That Lars hasn't capitalized on the obvious demand for bass on AJFA and rereleased it for the $$$ is beyond me.

It'd go platinum in 24 hours!

Rather, it would stream 100 million times lol.

Whitesnake 87 and Fair Warning, ironically two of my favorite albums. The 87 album needs to be played obscenely loud to sound right and the gutiars on fair warning are panned too hard left.

Unrelated but sonic temple and hall of the mountain king are two of the best sounding albums ever in my opinion.

Baroness - Gold & Grey

Same problem as Death Magnetic. Mastered so loud that it's clipping all over. Sounds like shit!
This was the first album that came to mind for me too.
The songs are great but I actually find this album almost unlistenable because of the production.
And while the mastering is definitely a big part of the blame, I think it's just how they overall recorded it as well.
I adore this band so this was a real letdown for me. Listening to those songs live in concert or on some of the "live in the studio" stuff I've found is great though.

Being a huge George Lynch fan, I always found the self-titled Lynch Mob album fell short only because of the production. There's just no life to it. Very boxy and soft sounding, like a blanket was draped over all the mics. It's a huge bummer especially since it came hot off the heels of one of the best albums as far as guitar tone goes (Wicked Sensation).

One of my faves after Reign in Blood, but that overly middy guitar tone isn't helping.

Great album, great songs but almost UNListenable…
Unfortunately, I think I heard Geezer Butler say that there was no hope of ever fixing or remastering as the original recordings on tape are gone…

I’ve always found it crazy that Lynch’s live tone is so ridiculously good compared to some of the albums.
