Just watched the live concert from 2010. I've always known that Jerry's tone was great but this really was astonishing. Someone here must know what he was playing live around that time. Bogner Modded Marshalls, Bogner Fish, Friedman?

I saw them and STP at RFK stadium in 2010 and he had a Friedman and I could clearly see it in a rack to his left on the side of the stage. I think he had some other heads as well, but cannot remember.

Just watched the rig rundown from then. Was a Marsha and a Shiva together.

I remember watching a show from that time period and im sure it was Friedman. His tone was smoking. I hate to admit this, but that bass player for them has a wicked tone too! If I played bass, I'd be all over try to cop that same vibe as him.

2010 in Bilbao. Was a Marsha and a Shiva. It's mind boggling that he can play some of that stuff and sing at the same time.

He's got a signature Friedman amp now, not sure what he used back in 2010 though.

2009 ... 50 watt Shiva, 50 watt Marsha with KT-88's with some Ubershall.

Saw them in MN in late '09. Best live guitar tones I've ever heard. Marsha and Shiva

Doesn't he mike an enclosure and pipe it out through the board for live shows instead of cabinets? Allows for better control.

I believe he was using isolation cabs around this time. Still may be, not sure

Yes. After the Bogner/Marsha rig he went to two Marsha's and then transitioned to the JJ's. He runs one head with higher gain and one lower, both to iso cabs with Heil PR30's which goes to front of house, in ear monitors and an EVH 212 cab on stage for monitor.

I agree. That bass tone is my favourite!
AIC is great live also. Never seen with Layne but Duvall is awesome.

Jerry has always had a great tone. I remember when I first heard "We Die Young" and it just sounded so heavy and tight.

Both Mike Inez and Mike Starr had killer tone and grove. When I picked up bass not long ago, I had to get a Spector because of Mike Starr and his tone on Would.
