So does it make a dramatic difference in the gain of the channel? I don't have it, as I sold it, but the buyer is asking.

I have only played a Herbert in the store but yes, it made a big difference. - is like from nearly clean to nice overdriven bluesy and mild dirty stuff, + goes from nice overdrive to full on metal riffing and screaming leads.

THe bass is very thight at "-". No comparrisson to "+". Position "-" with gain at 3h is huge!

So.... you had the Herbert... you sold it... and you dont even know what the +/- is ??? !!!

Wooahh, that is really hard to believe man !!! ... it's one of the greatest thing of the Herbert... with the MidCut...

I use the channel 2 + mode with M.C. for my beast rythym tones (for Melodic Death metal, so the power it's a must), and the channel 3 for leads... Channel 2 - is also AMAZING, but sadly I can control it with a midi pedalboard, so I dont use to use it to much, (I should be next to the head amp, and switch it on Stage by hand, which would be something really SAD, so I simply pass on that... at least on live).

But yeahh, it's AMAZING, you have all the tones in the world with this amp...

If you allow me to ask, I think you sold it too soon (not saying the VH4 is worst, or better), but really think that... ;).

Yeah the +/- switch on channel two is one of the best parts of the amp.

On the "- "section you effectivley lower the gain to a cranked Fender/Vox type thing that can dial up SRV Type overdrive with the "-" postion and the gain around 4 run the gain up to 6 and nail the Black Crowes Rolling Stones type crunch. Dime the Gain on the (-) postion and you get a pretty convincing "Appetite for Destruction" tone.

Flip the switch to the (+) mode and you are playing Warren Dematini/George Lynch type tones.

A pretty cool switch indeed.
