I know its the internet and anyone can portray anyone. But, why wouldnt famous folks peruse or even participate in a gear forum? They are gear heads. Its not like walking down the street getting mobbed by people. They dont have to respond if they get mobbed by tons of " i love u" and " i hate your wah" pm's here at Rigtalk. I love Megadeth old and new. I love Metallica old and some new. But i dont get caught up in the big star status. They are People that put their pants on one leg at a time just like us. If they participate here. Great ! If thats not really them. So what. LoL. Wouldnt surprise me at all if it was them though. Lynch, EVH, malmsteen, vai, satriani etc etc could be on here. It might surprise ya if u knew who everyone really is that we talk with on here methinks !

I think some guys like Mustaine and Hetfield are very protective of their tones and don't want to expose any tips. I mean they each give some general info but not in the way that the rest of this online community shares tips with specific EQ settings, MIC positioning and other finner details.

So as much as they are into gear they may not be into talking about their own gear, I dunno, plus their busy as hell with work and families now.

Who knows. Flemming Rasmussen joined another forum way back when and spoke in detail about the Puppets & Justice recordings that was cool as hell.

A good way to prove it is them (not saying they need to) but anyway would be to use a super rare photo, one that has never surfaced as their avatar - maybe? Who knows...

I dont care if they prove it or not. Not being rude. Once again i dont get star struck. I just think its very plausible that it could be them. I once met dimebag and zakk wylde. I am a fan but I nicely declined getting their autograph though. Ha. If I met Lynch I would be the same. I wouldnt mind hanging out and talking but his autograph wouldnt mean anything to me. I do have an original autographed Morley Lynch wah though. Autograph was already on the wah when i bought it from musiciansfriend though lol.

Kirk was definitely a fraud, not sure about Mustaine.
Thing is, Brad and mods would know if "famous" dudes were on here and would give them the VIP treatment or least some kind of upgraded status. I have a feeling that the IPs these guys are logging in with probably match up with some regulars around here. :D

Maybe I'm wrong.

Mustaine used to regularly post on the Megadeth forum around the late 90's early 2000's.

Yeah, the Megadeth forum... not Rig Talk. MEgadeth forum would be a place where he'd update tour info and talk with fans.. not Rigtalk where someone might tell him RISK was a shit album or that some of their stuff is starting to sound repetitive. :aww:

PS- if it is Dave, get Marty back! You know nobody can touch his leads. His phrasing and note selection was tops. Doesn't matter how many wizzes there have been since, Friedman was the best.

Ask him if he can do a spinning roundhouse kick to your head.

His response will tell you who he is.....

I think the opposite. I think they would come here to learn to get better tone. A lot of guys here have better rigs and better tones going on than a lot of pros.

I agree...music is their business/art...they are continually learning/experimenting just like everyone else

Well Barry Manilow was also present, but he wasn't into hanging with a bunch of n00bs... So it goes. He's a busy guy.

Gary Holt of Exodus used to post here under 'Gary666'. He's a better guitarist than Mustaine and Kirk combined !

Chris Broderick used to post on HC as well.

Um, have you seen the posts on Hammett on here over the past few weeks? Why would he EVER want to come back here?

I meant that generally speaking. Yes, a certain amount of criticism might run him away. Ha

many people on here do have better tones for sure, i think they would be into improving their tones for sure but not necessarily up for sharing tips, thats all i'm saying.

Not about being star struck, just about knowing who your talking to.

Would have been killer to meet Dime and Zakk.

I had a guitar autographed by Mustaine and then one day rubbed it off cause I didnt like the way it looked. I was luck it buffed right out.

Those were the days..... :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:

I tried to keep up with posting, but I've been pretty busy. Plus it really doesn't help when people insult me saying I'm fake or try the "hey do you remember THIS SPECIFIC THING from 2003, NO? You're not the real Kirk". It's heartbreaking

Well Kirk...I don't see why you'd be heartbroken over an internet forum...I suspect ya got plenty of other positive things in your life going on eh?
