I found a good deal on some transformers. Does anyone here have any experience with these??

http://www.antekinc.com/

From his web store the 20 watt, and 35 watt OTs are priced at almost 2 for 1!!!!

Also from what I have hear with output transformers the OTs that I got are rated 35 watts 10Hz-50KHz. From what I have read if you double the power you cut your bandwidth in half so if I run 70 watts I should have a BW of 20Hz-25KHz, and 140 watts 40Hz-12.5KHz. Is that right?? If I can I would like to run 100 watts to it, but I want to make sure that I have my math right. These are pretty big for torroidals.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to look into the current specs of that transformer. Yes it does only have one tap, but I am building the amp for myself, and I have 8 ohm cabs so I am not too worried about that. I was going to try 50 watts, and see how this transformer holds up.

This is where I got some of my info from. It also made me very curious about toroidals. Also with a 200 VA power supply transformer for $35 you can't go too far wrong. I paid double that for a 95 VA hammond for my preamp design power supply.

Where is a good place to get transformers from?? I ordered my hammonds from a local electronics store at about $60 each for under 100 VA. So to me seeing 200VA for $35 that seems super cheap!!! I am starting to work on my first designs, so I am pretty new to all of this. I have just read a few of the books by Kevin O'Connor of London power. And that seems to be some of the best info that I have seen so far.

I got the Antek 2T300. Here is a link to the spec sheet.

8 amps at 6.3V

500mA @ 300V

I have read that you can wire the two 6.3V out of phase, and ground the center tap of the 12ax7 heaters, and put one phase to each side. Since both sides are out of phase the hum is supposed to cancel out. I haven't tried this yet, but it makes sense to me.

Their 400 VA torroidals are only $50!!! (4T360)
