i haven't formally introduced myself over here yet.
i build amps. i've been over at HCAF for a couple years (don't hold that against me), but my amp building just got serious very recently. i haven't made a big deal about it here for several reasons, none of which are relevant to this rant.
anyway, i've got an amp that is on a passaround. the guy that has it now posted a clip. so, people that have mentioned a passing interest are expressing it again.
this one guy wants gutshots, so i take a pic of the front, back, and whole interior of the amp i just finished for another customer. that's not good enough. he wants CLOSE UPS. now, i know that anybody who actually knows what they're looking at can see what needs to be seen with the pic posted. this guy basically questions the quality of my work, and wants a close up of the PCB to show that i do good work
obviously, i'm hesitant to just snap close ups of my amp. he says that other builders would GLADLY take close up pics of their work. i tell him that's not been my experience. i then ask him what it would take, in terms of pics, to prove to him that i know how to solder. i also inform him that most people i know buy an amp for the tone, not what the guts look like.
he then proceeds to inform me that i can't expect people to buy my amps without detailed pics to show my work.
so, my question to you guys here at rig talk is, WTF is this guy smoking? does anybody else have that idea? am i off base for being reluctant to give him what he wants, meaning close ups of my boards?
mind you, i asked him what it would take specifically to prove to him that i do good work, and he wouldn't give an answer.
