Amp geekery; 470pF-560pF silver mica smaller than the Sozo fatties

I bought a couple of the Sozo 500pF/1000v caps but they are super big and the leads are really fat too. Probably because I thought they looked ridiculous I convinced myself that I thought the previous caps sounded better.

But I am out of both 470pF and 500pF so I did a little digging. The Sozo caps look like they are Cornell Dubilier (CDM) RF snubber caps, series CD15. They come in several voltages and can get really large. So I ordered the smaller CD19 size and this what I got. Much better regarding size. The three new ones on the right are (from right) 470pF, 500pF, and 510pF. Then a Sozo and a ‘standard’ size 500pF/500v. These are much more reasonable and have useable leads imo.

Just thought I’d pass it along. Nothing to see here unless you’re an amp geek.

The Sozo are really fat too, if they were flat like the old ones and had smaller leads they wouldn’t look so ridiculous. These were the flattest they had.

Yep. Pretty much. I don't buy any passive parts marketed as guitar amp mojo. You can just head to Mouser and order pretty much anything in any specific value, wattage, voltage, and physical size you need for half the price or even less.
