can someone tell me what kind of loop this is and how it works? it just distorts if i put a eq or whatever in, is this one of those SLO loops before everything or something?

I can't tell from the pics. Does the addition of the EQ in the loop also decrease the output level? The distortion leads me to think the Send level is too high and it's slamming the pedal input causing it to distort. But that is often accompanied by a drop in output level.

Some pedals can take more than others. I'd try some others and maybe try to attenuate the Send signal with a clean boost turned down (provided it too doesn't distort from the hot signal).

Did I remind you of Krank amps?
-regarding the Dime tone.
Dude, mod it!

now im not sure whats going on, i plugged my ge7 in and its not doing anything to the signal, if i plug my guitar strait into the return i get a distorted signal that sounds just like going into the regular input just with less gain. id like to have a normal loop if possible

nah, this amp was made for kerry king, im not sure how he ran his im assuming rack gear FX and wondering what the deal is, i might mod it for a real loop if thats possible

just send it to me and chalk it up to a bad experience my friend.

Very strange. You would expect the Return to be able to take a lot more signal before distorting.

dumb question but doesn't this one have a built in graphic on the front? would that have anything to do with it? I know-dumb question... ?

yeah, the "loop" is on the front panel to the left of the chord in the first pic, the grey wire runs from the return jack right into the ge10 i think?

Does the front panel graphic have a level control? Does that effect the distortion when plugging in to the return?

If that’s the Kerry king prototype I wouldn’t touch it. I’d sell it. If it is it would make sense to me that maybe the eq (maybe the loop too)is before the preamp. Like Kerry’s original jcm. It had no loop.

Looking at the pic, the graphic EQ board that was ripped out of a Boss is before the amp input, and I think that loop is in between the EQ and JCM800 normal input.

So, I would say it goes input -> Graphic EQ -> Loop -> Amp input.

I dont think it has a 'normal' loop. It is probably only for a noise gate, like Marshal stuck in the KK2203.

ah ok yeah that makes sense, i didnt know the KK2203 had a built in gate, ill have to try mine in there (y)

That sounds very feasible to me. So it really doesn't have a useable post-distortion loop for delay/reverb.

no chance im selling it, Slayer was one of my favorites growing up and probably the band i played along with the most while learning to play, its crazy i got the thing. amp is a total monster too, a loop would be nice but i can deal without

Yeah, the gate in the KK2203 was the one that was copied to become the Zuul pedal.

lol oh geez, ok yeah i remember reading about that now. does it look like a 2203 otherwise? i really gotta learn about amps one of these years

That’s what I saw.
