Amp Head Dual Bias Tester?

The dual bias tester will work, the problem is that it does not show you plate voltage. You can measure it, but its a bit of a pain in my experience unless you pull the chassis.

I sprung for the compubias and love it. I had an inexpensive bias probe like the amp head dual bias tester that I just plugged into my DMM, it was $25 or so as I remember. It did the job, but the compubias is so much easier and faster.

I had an Amp Head single bias tester short out on me, I threw it in the trash. The cheapo Eurotubes single socket tester works for me, since I already have a good DMM.

I have had an Amp Head dual bias tester for about 6 years. Works great but as stated does not show plate voltage. Not a huge deal because you most likely already have the chassis of an amp pulled if you are using a tool like this anyway and measuring plate voltage is very easy to do. There are other bias tools out there that have more bells and whistles but they also cost a lot more.

I have a Weber Bias rite that has been fucked up since about 6 months after I got it and it was like $200 IIRC.

This is model which can read plate voltage. I own this one for nearly 3 years and never had any problem with it. If you ask me this model is the best value for the money and I can assure you I've spent lots of time to find the "right" product (quality probes which can be connected to regular multimeter).

+1 for the Amp Head products. Works great..........best bang for the buck!

^This. The Amp Head unit that measures plate voltage works great.

I have had several and found the Compu-Bias the best. Reads it all right there on one screen.....PV, Bias Current and Power output. Had mine for a couple years now and highly recommended.

I have the Dual Bias Tester-MPD which measures the plate voltage in addition to the bias current. It seems sturdy enough and it's easy to use. Not overly expensive, either. I would recommend one if you just need to bias the occasional amp.

I have the same one works great. good probe for the money.
