I've tried this setup before with limited results. I don't have SDE-3000's but I tried with an Intelliverb, Intellifex, G Major, etc. I'm just not getting the huge sounding wide stereo image but kind of a weaker chorus-y tone that I don't dig. I want a setup that mimics the stereo spread of the Rockman chorus/delay.
It's got to be something wrong with my settings.

No, because, you either have 100% wet output (delay) or mixed. I don't want 100% wet signal in the wet speakers. I want some mix of wet and dry in the "wet" speakers. I don't like them 100% wet. So you have to use the mixed outputs to the power amp and cabs. You need something in front to split the signal. El Cap does that nicely... with it bypassed, it works great... same as what Holmes did with the SE70...reverymike":1m60rour said:Is the El Capistan really needed for this set up? I thought the SDE's had a "thru" that you could send the signal thru the unit into the other unit. Could you come out of the line out of the amp, into one SDE's input, out of the delay out into one channel of the power amp (and out of the the "Thru" into the input of the second SDE?). Or send the "dry" output of the SDE into the input of the second SDE?
Yup, Left and Right, baby! Been looking for a few years and it took awhile to find pretty minty ones that had been 100% tested and verified to work or my money back...Digital Jams":2ipr9ffl said:2 SDE-3000s!!!!!!!
Damn Steve you never stop to pull out all the stops! How long were you looking for those? They seem to be in great shape.
You really had to be there to hear the gloriousness of it... These YouTube clips don't really capture it, but here you go:gibson5413":3p01evxu said:Looks killer Steve! Where can I find a good example of Holmes' live sound?
Well... I just don't get why you couldn't get the huge stereo image around the dry cab. If you just set left delay to 500ms with one repeat and +9 cents micropitchshift and the right side to 250ms with one repeat and -9 cents, you will have this massive stereo image. Just mix the dry and wet to taste and it should be rockin'chumbucket":33yu6qum said:sah5150":33yu6qum said:My experience is that the other units you mentioned don't sound like the SDE-3000... C'mon, give me a little credit. Three 4x12's, sometimes four. Half stack or full stack of Marshall cabs in the center flanked by two (very heavy) 4x12's with EVM12L's in 'em. I run the effects through a MosValve MV-962. Sounds great as a W/D/W rig with reverb and some other stuff but I don't think I've ever found that huge stereo image.
I like dry signal mixed in one the L/R wet cabs. It doesn't sound as good 100% wet in the L/R cabs, even with a dry signal in the middle. I used to do it that way, but it was never as good. In my experience, it sounds massive with the dry mixed into the L/R cabs...petejt":2iz0vvc9 said:chumbucket":2iz0vvc9 said:sah5150":2iz0vvc9 said:Ah, he only used the SE70 to slit the signal to the SDE-3000s anyway.chumbucket":2iz0vvc9 said:Steve, don't you need a Boss SE70 in there for a Holmes rig? What are your current settings?
Look for a "Kill Dry" switch, or set the Level to 100% wet. The trick to the wide Rockman Stereo Chorus type sound is 100% wet one side, 100% dry the other. For w/d/w set both sides 100% wet, since your dry signal is up the middle.
Unfortunately, one of the units isn't working. I think it is just a bad battery as the memory locations clear after power is off for a few minutes. The battery is just a 3V Lithium, but is soldered in. Will have to look and see if I can fix it myself...The Hoff":2zjomt4f said:Looks good!![]()

In this way you don't ahve any problem of phase issue?? two identical sound out of the EL capistan also bypassed??I'm using to split the guitar signal like Holmes did with the SE70...

I had a battery like that in my PCM80.
IIRC the replacement batteries have a solder lead on them.
\
With that said, They sell bracket kits that you can drop into the slot like you would the solder battery.
The bracket allows you to avoid having to solder the battery in everytime it goes south and it will also allow you to use a battery that you can buy from any CVS store.
I did it and it worked like a charm.
. I know that you know this already but if you decide not to use the bracket kit watch the heat of the Iron because the battery will explode if you have to much direct heat on it. Might be common knowledge to most but let's just say that I found out the hard way hahahahaha!!
