Post of the year award!!!! :D

I find this thread kind of funny. There are so many factors that are involved to get that feeling of soul from an amp. The speakers, cab, guitar, and pickups all have to be a reasonable match. I have had amps that I hates with passive pickups, then pluged in my V with EMGs, and wow it sounds great!!! I think that if you match the amp to the right speakers, guitar etc, and it matches your playing style it will inspire you, and have soul.

I also say we need more pics of what happens next...I also like where that is going

C'mon no pain no gain.
Splawn nitro for me!

So they didn't get all of the tumor, then?

If you can't sound good through a Nitro perhaps you should look into bass or drums...

Marshall TSL-anything
Marshall JVM (transistor-y)
Mesa Anything Rectifier
Peavey Windsor
Some Blackstar stuff (not all)
Most ENGL amps (Steve Morse and Retro exempted)

IMO..."Soul" refers to what a player feels from an amp. It has nothing to do with what a spectator "hears.". So all of this "He sounded great on any amp" is irrellevant to this thread......again, IMO.

I think this is true for the most part...

As for me I would have to say HERBERT. Cold, Mechanical, Dry, and very, very STIFF... Tight No Give = I couldn't play it worth a Damm!

That said I've heard others play it well... So it leads me to believe it's definately a amp player interaction thing. I love Loose, Sweet sounding amps with Moan in their Tone! :D When I play an amp like that feeling just seems to come out of my fingers.

When I listen to soul I think of SRV, Robin Trower playing Day Dream, Hendrix... A lot of the amps seem to be old Marshalls... so for me I guess that's it.

All I know is when I play this thing... It makes me happy!

I felt the same way about the Einstein. I know others will get great sounds from it but I couldn't get along with it. It just didn't inspire me to plug into it. I thought maybe it was my cab but my friend has a pair of older JCM800's 4x12's loaded with 65's and it sounded terrible on those cabs. After the Einstein I had a 20th Shiva, which was a better sounding amp to me, but it was just missing something. Sounded vanilla to me which I guess some of you with relate to "no soul".

Who's gonna to start the alternate "Machines with a Ghost in them" post ? :emofag: :grim:
