Amps that have No Soul !

ok, i'll play.

if kerry king's marshall has a soul, it was sold to the devil and made to play chromatic, atonal and in no particular key for eternity.

if dave mustaines marshall has a soul, it has to be as bitter as he is.

if hetfield's mesa mark IIc+ has a soul, it must be as worn out as james's song writing has been lately.

if kirk hammett's amps have a soul, by now they have mind-melded with his crybaby and become one.

and finally.... if my amps have souls, they are only apparent when someone else plays them. i am a purely mechanical player. souls are only for you puny mortal beings.

Amps don't really have soul???? Say it's not true!! What about the Groove Tubes Soul-O 45 huh?? It says it right on the box!! Plus, I have been burying all of mine dead amps in the backyard.....how embarrassing!!!

If your amp has a soul... you might want to call for an exorcist. :loco:

Damnit, I was just gonna make a joke about exorcising the evil souls in the form of metal...

"Pine for your tolex covered Warrior"? :hys:

Barzini would be proud

all of them! it is your job to channel your soul through it.

Maybe it's just the way some people play, but the most "soulful" I've ever played are VOX AC15/30, Orange, Cornford, Mesa/Boogie Mark I, SMF, Marshall SL, Soldano, Matchless, Star, Fender Tweed, early white chassis Bogner's, HIWATT, and early Carlsbro Top 50/100.

Any Marshall made in the last 20 years. I would rather get punched in the face then play a Marshall. :boxer:

I like this guy. This is also my thoughts on the new Marshalls, but I do think the Vintage Modern has 'soul' potential. :scared: But for me the Soldano HR 50 made me feel like this. Very stiff/sterile sounding, I tried 6551(which it came with) 6L6's, EL-34's and preamp tube changes. . . . Nothing improved the amp. My Hot Rod 50 seriously sounded like a solidstate Crate next to my Boogie MK III and 100 watt Diezel Einstein. I totally hated it and I think it had ground noise issues too. I either had a bunk model or they really are just a shit amp. Ground noise issue is what really bothered my but the tone just wasn't right either way, especially A/B'ing it next to other quality amps.

SIDENOTE: I have a Soldano Superchager pedal that sounds great with any amp (tube or solidstate) that I love so I know they have legit tones. I just don't know what happend to my HR 50

All of my MTS amps. The modified preamps are a thing a beauty, but how much soul can a power amp with module bays have?

Traynor YCS50
Bogner/ Line 6 Spider Valve MKii
Diezel Herbert
Roland JC
Peavey JSX

I don't get why people rag on Krank so much. If you know how to dial one in, a Krankenstein+ can sound awesome.

Say it ain't so! :D

Diezel Hagen Channels 3 and 4. Channel 3 was like mehh, Channel 4 was like mehh+. JVM210h, I played a 212 combo at a music store and it sounded great so I picked up the JVM 210h and just couldn't get the high gain sounds to sound anywhere near passable. The lower gain modes were alright though.

the Fargen plexi something with the clear front ....worst thing i ever tried to play ..
it was a so called swiss army knife of classic amp tones. plexi, bassman and some sterile clean tone.

5150

Noisy-mudbox-beehive of over-compressed-one-trick-pony-divebomb-buzzbox and uncontrollable feedback and hiss.

But it does that well.

Marshall Valvestates
Marshall TSL (fizziest amp I've ever played...totally hated it)
Krankenstein's lead chan. Not a fan at all, but the Klean chan was pretty awesome.

And there's just something missing for me in the 5150 III. It just bores me, but I wouldn't go as far as to lump it into the "no soul" category. It just doesn't stack up to the original 5150, regardless if it's cleaner. Screw cleaner, I want meaner!

Your favorite player plugged into an amp you hate is still going to impress you.

So I'll answer with "no comment, trick question" :)
