Does anyone have experience with the AMT preamps? I'm thinking about checking out the S1. From the samples I've heard, it seems to get closer to an SLO than the Jet City stuff.

I have a few of the AMT pedals, including the S1. They're great in front of clean power amp (or straight into an effects return) and direct recording, but not so good in front of an amp as with a regular stomp box (which is not what they're designed for anyway). The basic tone from that clip is there, but a lot of what makes that clip sound so good is in the effects and cab sim, IMHO. (Not to mention the player!)

The most fun I have with those pedals is into a EH 22 Caliber power amp, believe it or not. Success going straight in to an effects return depends a lot on the amp you're using.

I've been looking at the M1 for use with an EHX 44 Magnum. I can't decide between the M1 or a tubed distortion pedal.

Yeah, all the AMT videos feature that guy. I've never heard of him before, but he's a great player.

I've never played through them personally, but they seem to be pretty cool. The S1 for dirty, an F1 or V1 for clean, and a EH 44 Magnum would probably make the smallest fly rig ever!
