Threads like this make me dislike my local GC even more than I already do...
Speak for yourself. I once gave a good friend a 3ch Triple rec for Christmas.sixstringking713":3u9a5ioa said:I like the tags..

The FUCK are you doing wanting to switch that out for an Axe then? Seriously, best amp I've played in a long time, man. That thing is SICK. Your Axe show up yet?!

Couldn't agree more on the VH4 and VHT!!!!!
I have owned 4, yes FOUR VH4's because I REALLY wanted to like them. I'm a Hetfield fanboy and since he plays one...
But Poo is Poo. I also owned a couple Herberts and while I liked them better than the VH4, I can name A LOT of amps I'd rather own.
VHT's on the other hand are some of my favorite amps! I have owned several versions, from Classics to a 50/12/212 to CL's (the green channel is my favorite VHT tone) to CLX's to UL's. All of them were awsome. I think the VHT tone is sort of a cross between a Mark series Mesa aand Hiwatt. BADASS.
Never played a Friedman of any kind but would like to.
On a side note....I am down to two amps. First time on probably 20 years.
What are the two amps you might ask?
Henning Cherry Bomb...IMHO the best Marshall based amp ever made. All bow down to Steve Henning!
Mesa Mark IIC+.....yup

Dude you need to grab a Deliverance. One channel of awesome. Some say its the best of all their offerings and they're probably the cheapest on the used market, usually under 1K. When you find one. Not the most useful with only one channel but...sometimes that's all you need.Steinmetzify":nc6mv1nm said:mctallica1":nc6mv1nm said:You had a very cool day there!

Dude. Two amps? That's MORE MONEY FOR GUITARS TONY!!!
No VH4s for this guy....not unless I knew for a fact I could make it work for me.
VHT was sick, I really need to get hold of a UL one of these days. There's one for sale but has no EQ and dude wants almost $2k for it. Nope, not when I saw them going for $1400 here during the last wave. Wonder if I can talk Corpse out of one...
I'd like to compare the Friedmans against the Cherry Bomb, think that'd be a blast. Steve's amps are cheaper too, IIRC.

Yeah, really hard to judge an amp without spending some serious time with it. And with what these amps cost, hard to spend that much cash without really knowing its for you. My first SLO I was kind of meh with it at first. But after reading up on pre tube preferences and trying out different preferred eq settings I liked it. Then I turned the gain down a bit and put a boost in front. Wow. Monster tone.Rezamatix":1jn8u0r9 said:Steinmetzify":1jn8u0r9 said:Dude your clips were the ones that made me jones to go play it. I think I might be able to get a lot more out of it with some tips, but man. Couldn't get anything going.
Yea. I mean..mine has EL34BSTR's in it. Properly biased. Most often thru a marshall 1960a/b at the rehearsal spot. It has all the proper recommended preamp tubes, I dunno. It hates hot pickups, mid output pickups and it's crunch city.
But it is what it is, not for everyone.
