I didn't like the VH4 through Orange 4x12, sounded far better using a Diezel or mesa recto cab imo.

That was just a classic/CLX to boot. The Ultra Lead is one bad mother. It's a shame they have lost their appeal and are tough sellers on the used market today. I have one with a matching 412 fat bottom cab and both cab and head have oxblood red cloth instead of black. I will never let that setup go.

Although I am a big Diezel guy, the VH4 is my least favorite of the bunch. I like it much better boosted and it needs volume to sound good. Herbert sounds a lot better to me, but I do like those two amps blended together in stereo.

Just a Classic/CLX?

I had a 2011 UL and still have a '93 Classic combo just like the one in the OP. The combo stayed and the head left for more than just monetary reasons. The combo slays. Side by side it just sounded better in every single way. Still my favorite amplifier. Only reason it's not my main gigging amp is because it's such a PITA to move. So heavy.

My CLX kinda sucked.... it was one of those amps that I'd fire it up one night and it would totally rip, then the next night I'd be fiddling with knobs because I thought it sounded like butt. It might have been mine though, I traded someone here on RT strait across for a UL and I was blown away, it is everything I wanted the CLX to be. He on the other hand was a bit disappointed in that CLX too.
