Andy Timmons pedal board

Theres a difference between having a simple board and a board that is thrown together and is a mess. You can have a small board neatly wired with a PP2+ that is very respectable. It doesnt have to be a huge rig. Andy's here just looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I mean I LOVE the guys playing, tone and songwriting, but this board is terrible. As a professional, Im really surprised he doesnt use something more roadworthy.

That looks more like a thrown together clinic board, not his regular touring board.

I'm pretty certain this is right as he normally has a Ground Control Pro too.

I was at a clinic with him last week and we asked about his pedalboard that he had there....he stated that he likes the sound he gets with batteries vice getting ac power. He went into detail about the 2 delays also, but I didnt catch it all....too busy drinking beer...LOL

His delays are set to around 350ms and 500ms I believe? Modulated courtesy of the Memory Mans (Men? :D )

Very cool! I love Timmons' tone, some of the best out there. I wouldn't exactly call his rig simple though, he has a two amp setup afterall

I always laugh when I see boards like this. It flies in the face of all the gear snobs on interweb forums. I've seen andy with nicer setups though... so who knows what was going on for that clinic.

Below is a picture of Eric Johnson's pedal board. Both Andy and Eric have killer tone. Both choose to get it witout the latest greatest internet fad.... well, actualy, both have started several internet crazes so... maybe we'll start seeing some "thrown together" boards as the rage soon. ;)

I guarantee johnson's board is that way for a reason.

Timmons, EJ, Gilmour- 3 of the best tonemeisters playing today IMO, though I'm sure there's others, and hopefully a little virgin territory for the rest of us to find as well................

Maybe a guy who has toured the world knows enough about what is really necessary to tour the world? Yet another sick-toned, monster player with a rig that makes guitar forumites roll their eyes.

:hys:

Like in that other thread with a very similar vibe going on it just cracks me up how much stuff we can find wrong with gear the pros use to perfrom the job that pros do. We are all insane.

I did ask him why he uses pedals as opposed to running a mega rack,he said he went through the mega rack phase and he thought they could be real 'tone suckers'. He seemes to prefer a quality pedal on batteries. Interesting stuff.

because they spend most of their time playing, and not buying and reading forums :D

The only way to get decent tone from big racks is to use mixers with them. To me that's just a bandaid.
