Andy Timmons Sig Guitar?

Ugly as hell, looks like a starter guitar.

His old sig looked really nice.

Looks like a cheap strat, or like maiden_fan said, a starter guitar. I guess it's one of thoses cases we shouldn't judge something by its looks.

The front half of the body looks suspiciously like the old Reb Beach ( horns ) ...?

Isn't it funny how a plain maple board, black inlays, single ply pickguard, and vintage-esque trem are DESIREABLE characteristics on a 50s reissue Stratocaster.

Yet you put the same visual features on an Ibanez, and it looks like something you'd get in a "starter pak" kit?

I like that guitar. Better than his newer one with the rosewood fretboard. Looks like a strat to me.

Whats his old one look like. I thought it was pretty much the same.

Oh, OK. I guess the guitar I usually see him using in videos isn't/wasn't a sig?

P.S. How do you embed the video. I tried to copy and paste the link into the "Youtube" quotes but it didn't work.

Love Andy Timmons but he would suit a Strat... I'm sure there's a reason why he plays Ibanez but everything about him cries Strat, even his Ibanez

Someone who's opinion I really trust played one and told me it was really average too :dunno: and the price is just disgusting.

Wow... what a negative post.

That's the first incarnation of his sig, the original AT100. Has a JB in the bridge I believe. And to embed YouTube links, delete everything before the "=".

He and Ibanez had parted ways for a little while last year and I hoped he'd start playing a Suhr. But then he went back to Ibanez.

IIRC, the "new" sig. model is a copy of his #1 Ibanez RX that he modded, which is probably
why it may look like a starter or lesser quality guitar. The story behind that guitar is that
he bought it at a "fire" sale from Brook Mays Music in Plano, Texas, where I worked many years ago.

The building had burned, but some of the guitars remained intact. The legend at Brook Mays was that the smoke from the fire did some mojo to the wood of that guitar and he specifically chose it because of its tonality.

I wasn't there when it happened, so some of the facts may be off a bit, but I think generally that's the story.

Would be great to see him playing something like a Suhr or Anderson. Something that isn't a cheap looking Ibeenhad.

Played it at NAMM. Its a "reissue" of his first Ibanez signature basically (the one seen in the youtube vids).

I thought it was nice, but not for over $2000. You can do much better with a Suhr Pro Series for less money.

The fact is Andy could play anything and sound amazing. So I guess it doesnt really matter for him.
