He’s just a pure player . I have studied his shit like a religion though I’m seen as a shredder .
Here a question I’d love to ask. In 77 and 78 Angus was shredding hard af . But by 1979 a lot of that stopped. Like to let there be rock and powerage . Unreal ripping . He never played like that again . Riff Raff solo and Rosie are too solos where he played modal at times with 3 notes per string . Did he stop because EVH came out and just took it to a new level ? Idk something tamed it and I don’t think it was Mutt. Though I must say he did rip more again on razors edge and the live album . But idk. Maybe he just wanted to be more like bb king which a lot of his solos are in the vein of since 2000.

AC/DC found the post-Bon formula with Back in Black, then they stuck with it ever since.
Even ignoring that I find Brian Johnson's vocals annoying, they experimented more in their early years. with Bon. I lost interest after Back in Black. Much of the material since then sounds too similar to me.

when they went back to super leads in 95 from the mesas the tones got so damn clean they became way bluesier less metal songs . I like that period though I hated it as a kid . I wanted metal . But I fucking love ball breaker and stiff upper lip . The cleanest breakup tones they did ever . It’s weird how technology has changed their sound too . Like they use the same amps they’ve had in storage . But without the tape their tones got extra cleaner from that too ! I could talk acdc all day lol

Ballbreaker might be my favorite album of theirs. It was their most recent album when I started playing guitar and stiff upper lip was the first tour I could go see them live, so that era is pretty special to me.
I thought Fly on the Wall had some pretty ripping solos too. The opening chords to Send for the Man is one of my go to “amp tryout” riffs

I love fly on the wall too . The jcm 800 tones are ferocious on that one . But ya I saw them on SUL lip tour tour . Great show

They were never, nor would they ever be metal. Back in Black is the closest and that sounds like a cranked 800...not even boosted. AC DC are the kings of '3 chords and a cloud of dust' hard rock. No matter what era/singer. Angus is a bluesy player..that's what some shredders I've heard over the years forget to do....play with great vibrato, play with feeling/develop a 'feel' for the instrument. Angus is a world class lesson on how to do it. Learn to play like Angus first, then learn shred.....
One of my fav bands ever...think about Angus doing his 'hop' thing for THE WHOLE FREAKING SHOW and you then realize how great he is. He's (and the band) a treasure.

Hellms bells is def metal . Songs like razors edge . They def had more metal after bon died . One reason hell bells was moved from being in e minor to a minor was it was too dark and metal at first .
Idk man songs like are you ready , fuck when fly on the wall def crossed over to metal a lot .
I mean razors edge sounds very Metallica . Angus even used Phrygian on the intro like . I never said there were metal but they def cross over into metal man times . I mean shit what made them use boogies and on acdc live ? Angus tone on that is very metal and after the live album he said they had to go back to their roots with old Marshall’s . I fucking love it when they do make a metal song

Certain bands you just know what you’re getting. AC/DC….slayer…. They are royalty imo…angus is just fucking awesome…. Never be another one like him…
