Reo was really big in St. Louis when I was growing up. Gary R was one of my first guitar heroes!

I had the same shirt! and jacket.. :aww:

I grew up in St.Louis too man. Till I was 14 then moved to CO. Saw a lot of good shows as a kid. At Blues Arena I think it was called. Saw Twisted Sister and Dokken (Tooth and Nail tour).....Van Halen on the 5150 tour.....Iron Maiden Somewhere in time tour and Rush Power Windows. I beleive they were all that that place.
What part do you live in?

That was probably the Checkerdome, dude. The Blues played there until they built the new Keil. The new Keil auditorium is now called the Scott Trade Center. Anyway, I saw a bunch of shows at the Checkerdome in the late 70's and 80's. They finally tore it down.

Oops, should have read down more

Loves me some REO!!!! :rawk:

The new guy is a good player but his tone sucks, I seen their show recently on HDTV and all I could think about is, "Gee I really miss Gary"

Guys like him, Rick Nelson, Elliot Easton and Neal Schon don't get enough credit because they played in a "pop" band.
But every time I play one of their songs I do the solo note for note. Their leads and fills are perfect for the song it was written for. Can't improve or change perfection. :worship:

what ever happened to Gary Richrath? I've googgled him and I really dont come up with much after he left Reo.

I saw Gary years ago on a solo tour. It might as well been a REO cover band. The singer sounded exactly like Kevin Cronin. Gary was yelling at his tech because he had no guitar sound the first few minutes of the first song. Took Gary that long to realize his guitar cord wasn't plugged into his guitar. He absolutely sucked that night. In his defense you could tell he was fairly wasted so I have to give him a pass. Always loved his solos and they were ones you could hum. If you saw a cover band and the guitar player didn't nail his solos, you knew it right away.

There is a concert series that comes to my town every year. $50 gets you to see 3 bands throughout the summer. This year it's Jefferson Starship, REO, and Cheap Trick. Should be fun.

I have a good REO story. I may have told it but it seems relevant. 1978 in Los Angelles CA Collisuem, spent the night there waiting in line for my first rocknroll concert. 13 years old maybe just turned 14 I know it was april. bye the way none of yous guys wished me a happy b day. sons a bitches. it was A local band opening Loosley Tight then the Fabulous Poodles then Toto then REO then outlaws then Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent. the next night Van Halen headlined. REO tore it up. They did not sound like the REO from You can tune a piano" They tore it up. They are a live band The records did them no justice. It was also the first time I took acid. I am missing huge portions of the day and I have a great memory. My cousin said I just laid on some one elses blanket and rolled around laughing.. fun times.

Saw REO, Foghat, Outlaws, J. Giels band, Pat Benetar and a couple other acts in 1980' at the "Isle of Rock" Credit Island park in Iowa, it was pretty kewl, also saw REO in St. Louis Forest Park in 1989'.
