I for one am, I regularly commute to and from work. For about 15 years I did it 5 days a week to get back and forth from work. But it took its toll on me, many spills and close calls with motorists later-- and I now only ride occasionally and have certain routes that I know are safe. I damn near got T boned and only escaped death because I saw the woman coming at me knew I had to speed up as fast as I possibly could or else it would've been lights out.
I ride an 80's Trek mountain bike, nothing fancy. But I would like to get something a bit newer and certainly lighter. In the city I live in it seems like EVERYONE has an electric assist type bike, a bit pricey for me. That's guitar money right there .

Glad you survived that mate.

"Any fellow cyclists here?"
Yes and there are threads here about it.

Here's one:
MTB cycling

This sub-forum is for combustion-powered vehicles - cars, bikes and motorsport.

Competition-BMX for example would belong in "Sport" and this thread in "Hobbies". I'll move it there now.

I'm an avid cyclist. I've took all the spills, and have been hit by cars too. LOL I've got bikes dating back to the early 90's to present, I even have a recumbent trike.

As for the e-assist, just go for it. As I'm getting older it's pretty much a must to save my knees. You'll love it, you get the same good workout, but you can go longer, and not stress your joints/muscles.

Maybe once the new year hits, I have been buying a ton of gear this year. What brand did you go for? I have tried and really like Rad Power bikes.

All mine are kits I've added to existing bikes. Rad are fine for commute, my bosses parents have them, and I sold one for them because they got the giant fat tire model, it's too big, and clunky. It also had a problem where it would just die a few miles out, I diagnosed it as a bad motor controller, and they sent me one to replace it.
