I haven't had a chance to play the amp, but goddamn, is that video not a clinic on how to get a boatload of tones using just your hands and the volume knob on your guitar?
Phil X is a BADASS MF
And I'm not surprised that the Friedman Phil X sounds like a JMP, cause that mystery amp he's talkin' about in the vid is a '76 2203.
1 channel amp. really does the perfected JMP thing perfectly. If you're into that flavor you really can't go wrong. Maybe RedPlated will get in here and comment soon. I know he had one for awhile.
All this is absolutely correct except for one thing: RedPlated's Phil X now resides with me
I can't say enough about this amp...my favorite plexi type amp I've ever played. I'm running it hot too -- both masters are at 1:00 and 1:30 through my Suhr Reactive Load...
