thanx it sounds pretty smooth
Can you hit us with some clips by any chance? I'd love to hear it.
ill try soon, the tremelo was amazing, ill do it when that fixed...its tube tremelo...so smooth....from the info i got i now can say its a 1960 first production....i use it for my charlie christian bebop tone....it breaks up like a malcom young type overdrive when cranked....when the tremelo worked it reminded me of a down on the upside soundgarden tone

I have a '61, got it from the original owner. It's pretty cool, sounds better with a newer speaker.

i really like the way it sounds....but that could be cool

The old Gibson amps used a lightbulb/LDR that is no longer made. You'll need to have someone make you one or convert the amp to a LED style LDR if that's what failed.

I just worked on one that had this tremelo scheme...
gibson-ga-8t-amplifier-schematic-1.gif

But on this 6EU7 type schematic : http://www.schematicx.com/schematic/gibson-ga-8-amplifier-schematic/

This is a really liquid sounding tremelo!!!

Does yours have 6EU7's? If so, don't change them over to 12AX7's.
The 6EU7 is a like a low noise 12AX7 with different pinout and you can still get tubes like NOS 6EU7 RCA's pretty cheap.

If it's that style trem check the .047 caps on V3A and check tube V3. That doesn't have the LDR like many of the other Gibson models.
