Well, I believe 6th is the best Massa has ever started at this track, so he's already off to a good start. It'll be really interesting to see if the Brawn team can actually keep up their pace for a whole race. I'd be happy to see both Ferrari's in the top 5. It's cool to see some new teams fighting for wins though. Makes things more interesting.

Yep. There are couple of circuits where Massa's very strong and last year they were among the first few ones. I think they were Bahrain and Malaysia but I could be wrong.

I just read a news which said that Brawn drivers drove last part of the qualifying with very fuel heavy cars. If that's the case, they are massively good.

Yup, the Brawn cars aren't running light at all. I love how the teams have to reveal how much fuel they're using in the cars after qualifying now.

"For the 2009 season, the FIA are making public the weights of all cars ahead of the race start to help give an idea of relative fuel load. The cars that made Q3 are weighed after qualifying, while the weights of the remaining cars must be declared by their teams shortly after the session. The details from Melbourne show that Brawn GP were not running light, despite their impressive pace.

Below is the provisional grid with each car's weight. Note - Glock and Trulli were excluded from P6 and P8 respectively for illegal rear wings, and hence start from the back. A gearbox penalty dropped Hamilton from 15th to last, before Toyota's exclusion bumped him back up two places."

1. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 664.5 kg
2. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP, 666.5
3. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 657
4. Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber, 650
5. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 657
6. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 654
7. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 655.5
8. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 662
9. Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, 691.5
10. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 680.7
11. Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren, 690.6
12. Nelson Piquet, Renault, 694.1
13. Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India 689
14. Kazuki Nakajima, Williams, 612.5
15. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 675.5
16. Adrian Sutil, Force India, 684.5
17. Sebastien Bourdais, Toro Rosso, 662.5
18. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 655

F**k! They're so superior at the very moment.

Honda started developing the car for 2009 rules in...was it 2007? So they had a really long time to get ahead of everybody else.

And oh yeah, Kimi FTW! Don't see any great results coming from Heikki, tho. McLaren seems to suck pretty much right now. I hope they are going to improve, so there would be more top teams again.

Honda pretty much gave up on their car near the start of last season, so they've been working on the new one since then.

And a totally random fact I read this morning, since 2006 whoever won the Australian GP has won the world championship. Also, Lewis won the championship with car number 22 last year...same as Button this year.

Yeah another fact is Ferrari is the top team right now that qualified running KER system. The others in that qualifed above them are not running this system. Makes you wonder if the added weight is hindering the other teams running this system. Interesting that they can add 80hp at a push of a button. Pretty cool to see a 2.5 liter V8 running 850 hp at 19,000 rpm.
Button is a great driver and it would be fun to see him win some races. The diffuser issue has gone to the FIA so we will have to wait tell after the race to see if they are legal or not. To bad they didn't make it clear in the first place so we wouldn't have this.
I think Lewis is a huge bitch.

I used to watch the first laps...
Now that they cancelled the Montreal race, F*ck 'em. :gethim:

Yeah, I check the F1 site everyday. Any of you guys staying up tonight to watch the race? I know I am.

Finland's F1 broadcasting rights owner took the GPs to pay-tv couple of years ago and I won't pay those bloodsuckers. Therefore I must to watch the GPs via internet if I want to see them live. If I want to see the GPs on tv, for free, I must wait 3 hours after the end of the race to see a 1 hour recap.

That sucks man. I just downloaded torrents of each race last year, but now I have the Speed Channel. Have to pay an extra $8 a month to get it, but well worth it to watch the races in HD.

Cool! It's 20 bucks per month here and it isn't in HD format. Whole GP weekends were free in the past, up until 2007 I think, and since you know that Finns are very good in motorsports (F1, WRC Rally etc) and that ~25-30% of Finns were watching F1 races, you can imagine what kind of a shitstorm it was when they put it to pay-tv. :gethim:

I know it's not the most popular thing in the US, but just wanted to see if anyone here is a fan. I can't wait for the season to finally start this weekend. Should be very interesting to see how everyone performs with all of the new rule and car changes.
I'm not into Formula 1, but I'm looking forward to Formula 2.

Definitely a crazy race. That crash at the end between Vettel and Kubica was ridiculous. Massa looked pretty strong until his car failed on him. Absolutely pathetic that Hamilton got 3rd place. Ugh. :aww:

Yeah, that crash is not something that I would expect Kubica to do. He had the tempo and 3 more laps, he could take Vettel easily

Exactly, I dunno what he was thinking. Vettel got penalized for it though. 10 place grid penalty for next weekend. Sucks that Trulli went from 3rd to 12th for passing under the safety car too. I can't believe both Toro Rosso cars got points and neither Ferrari car did.
