Reverb....where seller's hopes and dreams are created of getting way too much for their item.

There is some truth to the fact that you are advertising your item to the whole country. That alone will help command a higher price than a local market like craigslist. It's just one of those things where you have to search for items that you want and sometimes you'll find it for a deal, sometimes you won't.

Reverb is 7% btw, by the time PP gets their share.

I don't know that sellers owe anybody a great deal which is subjective anyway. Sure guys who are asking for New prices or close to it are delusional but in the end they suffer because no one buys their stuff anyway. I listed a guitar on Reverb for $300 and it was $800 new. It sat for over 2 years but had 18 watchers. Did they expect me to give it away ? I did sell it locally.

I also have a strat listed. It's $1200 new and mine is drop dead mint. I listed it for $800 because all the other listings for same item were at $900. Same song and dance.....I have a bunch of watchers but no offers ( and they can make an offer). I'd rather throw the gear in a closet than give it away. The whole "deal" mentality makes buyers seem entitled. I do think sellers can be unrealistic but I'm am not being unrealistic and I can't move anything.

im at the point where i hate selling gear and when i do sell stuff lately i been pricing my gear as the lowest price on that item just so i can dump it quick.
as long as i dont lose too much on what im selling im fine, sometimes its worth it to lose a few bucks to sell something quick, especially if theres something else your wanting to buy thats a really good deal and dont wanna miss it.

but i dont really understand the guys that price things so high that nobody is ever really gonna consider buying it, doesnt make sense to me, why bother if its gonna take years to sell it and your the highest seller. some people like wasting time i guess.

I don't know. I think some people just get it burned into their brain that their item HAS to be worth X dollars. Some people are just like that, and also are willing to hold onto something for a long time if there's even a remote possibility of getting top dollar.

I'm with you, when I want something gone, I basically want it gone. Only time I'll hold out is if I know that I am below market value but it still won't move right away and don't want to get hosed on an item..

You would think after a months on no action these high listers would get the hint
I list my gear to move I figure I'll pass the deal down the line it's the price of having gas.

Why buy new from Fractal for $1299 when you can buy from some schlub on Reverb for hundreds more.

This guy is in Israel. I noticed foreign sellers sometimes sell for a really high price.

Yeah there's a guy in Australia selling a Mesa JC2c for $4200.

Cos' gear prices in Australia = getting assed raped every single time. Their import taxes are STUPID high!

Exactly. People want something for free. That's why I'll likely never buy anything new again. Used is the only way. I used to flip a ton of gear. Not anymore. I rarely sell anything of significance.

Yeah the reason intl gear is pricey is because they had to pay import fees, currency conversion, brokerage, and higher shipping.

They are usually looking to sell to other people in their own country not abroad.

I just bought a SICK ASS Two Rock 50/15 head with 8 hours on it from the first owner for $1500 bux on Reverb shipped and a massive boner the whole way...

Some people list stuff "high" on CL, EBAY and right here on this forum everyday for various reasons of ignorance, greed or low ball roach insurance.

Forums are still the best for me. Sometimes I don't even need the shit, it's just priced too low to ignore...I figure I'll find a use for it sooner or later. I just grabbed a Duncan Distortion for super cheap, I mean like burger and a beer cheap. Haven't owned one for a bit, and I figure I'll get sick of the Deactivator in my new Ibby eventually, so there's that.

I decided to entertain the trade in route. What a joke ! My mint $1200 Strat .....they offered me $300. I was howling. He says " there's one on Reverb for $850" and I laughed and told him it was mine.

To make matters worse after I declined their trade in offer they just assumed that I did not want to but the Fender Elite Strat they had held for me. I had cash in my pocket to cover the guitar and these poor salesman never asked what I wanted to do or if I still was interested in buying. I had cash ! I left laughing and made a note to self to stay away from said store. It's not even about the piss poor offer it's about the horrible customer service. Now I'll take my time and order online where I don't have to deal with imbeciles.
