Anybody rocking a DSL?

Got one en route on a trade deal....been playing since '89 and never owned a Marshall. I've always been a 6L6 guy...mostly Mesas and 5150 variants, but I was curious. Clips sound good, but I figure its gonna be REALLY bright because of the EL34s and the fact that all my guitars have ebony boards.

Newer model, made in Vietnam, not the UK...Holt is using them with Slayer so they can't be all bad, but I'm wondering.

Think it's gonna be a keeper?

Green channel, crunch in w/ gain dimed and boosted=good.
Red channel, mode 1 boosted or unboosted=good.
Cleans are also pretty good.
Red channel mode 2 is too much for my taste.

Hell yes. I sold my Mark IV for an English made DSL (half the price btw) and love it. I loved the Mark IV also, but far too many bells and whistles for what I play. Biased properly with good tubes, conservative gain control and it's a great choice.

I'm not a big fan of this amp... But many do like i & find it to be great bang for the buck, so it's worth a test drive

Kinda fizzy unless you set the gain low but otherwise fine.

I always clean-boosted it to make it sound good. Even a cheapo boost like the DigiTech Bad Monkey with the dirt all the way down helps it tremendously. This was my primary head during my gigging days. Never let me down. I upgraded to my current amp, but haven't played a gig since.

Im using one now as my main tone..its a older one and I love the tones its produces compared to the jvms and tsl ive had in the past, great amps for the $ if you ask me all tones are usable/..

Yes sir. I met Marty years ago on the Dean forum. Been trading gear with Dave, Martin, and Mike for a few years now. Haven't gotten to hang out with them as much since Marty moved from Arlington to Plano though.

DSL40c combo is what I have. Sounds ok thru the stock speaker. Sounds way better thru my '70's Matshall 4x12.

I remember you now. I quit that place awhile back cause somebody posted about selling a guitar on eBay, and the buyer not telling him he lived in Alaska and he was asking for tips on how to screw the guy. He got a whole bunch of replies too! Couldn't believe it or believe that the mods let him do it, let alone kept it on the front page.

Nice man! It's already got a V30 in it and some JJs; getting hyped that this thing might actually sound great.
