I think it was an off show.
His tone in that venue was icy picky.. I popped ear plugs in and it was way better. Still not the old tone he had in the really early days, but be ripped it up for sure....

sounds like he had a nice marshall glassy tone.. great stuff

Saw him 2 days ago. He was on fire and delivered..Seemed to have pretty decent happy go attitude, lots of smiling on stage too.Really enjoyed the show.My advice? go see a true legend while he's bringin it so good. His tone was killer too.The whole viking/pick flicks/ax twirls is part it all.it doesn't bother me one bit.I'm too into his music to really notice any of that.I remember when the steeler album came and the radio stations were playing hot on your heels.Man,wow.Thankyou,Yngwie for raising the bar!

Bought tickets yesterday for Thursday's show - looking forward to it and this post added to that! And, guys - it's called a "show" for a reason :) A great player sitting and not moving and inch is pretty boring :D

love the way he still holds on to the cardboard wall of Marshalls behind him.. you would think he might opt for a giant blow up dragon at this point.

Agree with the comments so far, he appears to go through spells where he is complete garbage (by YJM standards not mortal standards) but then super smooth, fluid and clean like some of the short clips that were posted here. A bit like Lynch now but more consistent.

I just noticed he is playing in Montreal tonight! Geez.. MTL and Toronto get all the shows, we get screwed and passed over here in Ottawa. Too late to organize getting there now... too bad, would have been cool to get hit by 20 picks in the first song.

Jesus does he own all the marshalls??
g

I guess so I counted over 50.
.........when I saw him 4 days ago,I counted 52 heads and 18 cabs.We noticed him going over to at least 5 or 6 heads and adjusting thru the night. When his tech cam out pre show and did a line check on guitar(no mains on) his stage sound was unreal.gave me goosebumps.lol.sounded killer..He also was in stereo..Also saw his bass player was running into some of the heads.

My nephews and I saw him last night. I counted 55 heads :)

I also echo the statement about his sound - just like above the tech came out and the rig was NOT running thru the PA at that time and the tone and volume just blew me away.

Huge thanks to the OP for this thread. Had I not seen it, I would not have known he was playing in Buffalo. The show was insane - he brought and brought it BIG time!! One of the best shows I've ever seen out of 200-300. We had a great time and very glad we went.

Here are a couple YT videos from my cell phone:

if you look close. only two are on, lights on in about a dozen with the switches in off position.

he likely owns all the Empty marshalls... gatta love stage dummies

they're not dummies

just because he owns enough for them all to be real doesn't mean they all are.

the majority of the cabs are likely real, atleast the bottom ones, the heads behind Yngwie are real or atleast 8-12 are real and ready to go.

the other 40+ and half dozen cabs, Too much of a liability. too much in labour costs. I doubt Yngwie has a guitar tech team of half dozen?

if those were real, i wouldn't trust them to stage hands.

Also can you imagine the call to insurance? " Oh i played this show, the lighting burst into flames and my 55 vintage marshalls got burnt up, can i start my claim?"

Last night, 6 were on but only 2 had cables going to them in the front. Obviously, the bulk are for show. My guess is one was actually under full power for the stage (coz it was crazy loud) and the other going to the main sound system. The others under power are probably for backup and hot swap so they are warmed up and ready to go should something go wrong.

I would suspect that others are gutted only for weight reduction (carrying around and driving around)

He was definitely in stereo when I saw a week ago..You could clearly hear the panning going on when the tech came out pre show.He may run things a tad different in some venues, idk, but the night I saw him,he was messing with at least 6 different heads, going over and turning knobs every now and then.Since he's touring pretty heavy right now, maybe we'll see a rig rundown soon!

I have seen Yngwie a bunch of times, but it is just not the same when he does not bring a great singer with him. He has his keyboard player attempting to sing some of the fan favorites. Sadly, it has been all downhill for Yngwie since he let Doogie White go as his singer. Ripper never fit and the Ripper records were terrible. The last couple mainly instrumental Yngwie "records" have been a joke. I am and always will be a HUGE fan. I just hate to see him do this to his reputation and career.

His bass player was the main vocals when I saw him this week. The keyboard player did some and much to my suprise, so did Yngwie. I thought it was beyond awesome and so did my nephews.

I always heard they were all real amps also. I'm going to see him Thursday at a friends club and a friend is opening for him. I'll see what I can find out.

rig run down just isn't the same without Rebecca Dirks.

20 heads if I counted correctly. 6 of which atleast are his YJM models (the only ones plugged in in the rig run down)

They might be real, but i doubt they are all functional and complete. something like this i've seen. hell Angus brings around 18 amps for himself, mind you they are not all functional at the same time. repair rotation with an amp tech on touring staff. but they ain't the "real deal" they are kit clones with some special goodies in on the side from Rick.

more then double that 6 years later. I'm sorry, I can't believe those are all real functioning complete vintage marshalls.

In years of touring as a tech, I've never encountered a back-line like that without it being half empty. again labour, liability, transport costs.
