Anyone else find modelers/sims uninspiring?

The only good thing to come out of modeling gear is TGP'ers started using the word "axe" again without being bitches about it.

Unless you have owned both a Kemper and tube amp at the same time, you can't really claim that one is better than the other.

I love Amplitube 5 for practicing with headphones but other than that.. it's a tube amp and cab.

I bought a Quad Cortex a bit over a year ago and I love the tone and the feel of it! However there is something that is very inspiring even when playing tube amps thru a reactive load and listening to the tones thru high quality monitors. These are amazing times to be a guitarist! 😎 So many possibilities...

Although I love the in-ears at apartment volumes it still feels nicer to play thru Genelecs. It is ridiculous how little things improve the feeling and inspire. 😩

Recordings are a different animal.

Much like the output systems modelers are generally played through.

You’d think it’d be obvious to pretty much everyone that playing through studio monitors or an FRFR system is never going to be a 1:1 recreation of a 4x12, or even a 1x12 cab, but somehow that connection is missed among all the geniuses that use tubes as a replacement for their genitals.

Exactly. These "tubes 4EVA" guys will be wrong at least half the time.

Being fair, I did pick out the Kemper in a couple A/B clips recently, but I had a good idea of what to listen for when I did it.

And there’s definitely a lot of giveaways when someone posting clips hasn’t spent much/any time with a tube amp, or when someone used a modeler on a recording and did the “ready to mix” tone where they hack off the low end and make it bright as shit, then run the whole mix through mastering plugins so it sounds like bees fucking gnats.

Actual amp designed to work with electric guitar vs computer amp designed to mimic amps designed to work with electric guitar. Your recent posts and threads are hitting new lows brother.
