It is very random. 3 or 4 a day maybe. Some days nothing.

You may have been subscribed to some of the old threads that the spammers bumped this week. One of the spammers had more than 130 posts before being banned and the posts deleted.

TBH I don't think I've subscribed to a thread ever on any forum.

Very possible I drove my mouse drunk and clicked on subscribe accidrunkenly.

Any chance you hit the "Subscribe Forum" link at the top of the main forum page? I think I did that a few months back, then started getting email notifications for new posts

I did that on accident. It was driving me crazy until I figured it out.
