Anyone else see the Fractal AX8's for sale on TGP?

Put it up maybe a 100$ or so but that is ridiculous, capitalism or not. Another one wishing upon a star to make some money. Let's hope no one is dense enough to buy it from him.

So the only difference between the AX8 and FX8 is the AX8 does amp modeling too? That seems like a huge feature bump for only 50 dollars additional...
The AX8 was designed as a modeler and not to be used with an amp where the FX8 was designed to be used to add fx to your amp. No 4CM with the AX8 among other things. So the AX8 is not just the FX8 with modeling capabilities.

I dont think its quite accurate to say 'no' 4CM with the ax8 - there is true bypass with the fx8 (and cliff claims there is optimized parts/etc in the fx8 specifically for 4CM to make it quieter)...

But the AX8 can certainly be used with 4CM.

Ive been told by 2 folks that have owned both that they couldnt tell any difference in noise levels between the ax8 and fx8 in 4CM...so, other than the true bypass and switching, im not sure what else the fx8 would have over the ax8

Haha! Buying a used computer for more than new!

Sometimes people have more money than patience. I don't mind taking money to alleviate their mental anguish.

The thing costs $1399 new from Fractal and of course because there's still a waiting list for it some Aholes are trying to get $1850. If you're going to buy stuff just to flip it for a few hundred bucks profit....STAY OFF THE FUCKING WAITING LIST SO PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WANT IT CAN GET IT. Aholes! Ok, rant over. :codeak:

I'm selling mine for that? So fucking what? Who made you the decider of what people should flip it for? It's a free market... I'll either get $400+ or I won't... why should you care?

And by the way I got it with the intentions of keeping it if it sounded better than what I have or have used but guess what? It sounds no better than a Line 6 Helix and it plays so well with analog gear...... a lot better than the AX8. I did a lot of back and forth in several uses from tube amp to all direct and the helix to me was clear winner. So off the AX8 goes.

I could care less if I make more money off it than you think I should or not.

Do whatever you want. I won't be the fool to pay you when I can wait and pay the regular price. I would love to see everyone wait so everyone who just wants to flip would be stuck with it.

But wait, don't you hate everything about Fractal? I don't you hesitate at the chance to exclaim how much better amps are. So don't waste your time on the piece of garbage.

As a long time Axe Fx user I decided to give Helix a try last week because fractal has been out of stock on everything for a while. I was blown away by Helix and will no longer be ordering another Axe FX

I heard the Helix in person and wasn't thrilled at all by it's distorted sounds. Clean and effects were nice but some of the amp models sounded pretty bad...IMHO.

The guys selling them at a profit are fucking geniuses. The dumb fucks are the ones buying them.

just like Fractal I thought all the presets sounded kind of bad. I don't judge a unit by the presets though. Downloaded some Ownhammer it's and away I went. The fact of the matter is, Ive had an axe fx II for the past 4 years, sold it a few months ago to upgrade to the XL+ and on my journey decided to try the Kemper which went back immediately and now Helix. I had every intention of just trying it out for 30 days while I waited for the Axe II to come back into stock. But in all honesty, The differences in tone are so negligable that there's no point in spending another $1k on the Axe. Sure, it has over 200 amp models but I only use 4 anyways. Most people don't want to believe the Line 6 is atleast on its way to fractals level, but from a former fractal fanboy...it is. But Helix discussion is definitely for a different thread

Exactly..... for some people and their tastes the Helix really is a much better fit and maybe Fractal is for some others. It's all good.

I have the Axe mk2 here and just received the Ax8 ,The Ax8 is built like a tank and sounds very much like it's big brother .

I have to say though some of the Helix clips i have heard have been incredible ,Glenn Deluane has a custom Uberschall patch that is sick and some of the 5150 stuff I have heard with OH IRs is great to
as well as Sean Halley's Deluxe and Essex presets..

What i like in some of the Helix hi gain clips is it is much brighter there are some great Axe clips2 but I have always feel the signature Fractal tone was kinda darker , Blanketed

I can't keep track anymore, I thought you were Fractal basher, if not well there's no shorted of them. And yes sure, it's a free market, charge what you want. The guys paying 2k for one are the same as those kids on Line getting the new Playstation.

But right now, I'm more irked by what it says in the new Petrucci IIC+ manual.

Quote:
And YES... it’s a IIC+! A next generation Re-Issue of the legendary amp so many Recording Artists, MESA enthusiasts and Tone Freaks the world over covet and many search high and low to find. Only THIS IIC+ will quickly de-value those original amplifiers for all but the most snobbish collectors. Why? Because it is purely and simply better. In every way!

Holy cow...I need to check out that manual. Is that whole quote in there!?!?

Damn, guess I should of just flipped my AX8 when it came in last week, made some extra bank and got back on the waitlist! That's some crazy markup's!

I got my invite to buy the other day. I dont really want it anymore. I thought about buying to try/flip, but it's not worth my effort at this point. Lol
Give danyeo your invite, then. Everyone wins...

Or offer to sell it to him for $200.

...so, other than the true bypass and switching, im not sure what else the fx8 would have over the ax8

Actually also the FX8 has a special block in it used for AMP CHANNEL SWITCH of your own external amp channels. The AX8 does not have this at all.

So why can't Fractal build enough of these things? It's always been this way with them. When they come out with a new product it's like Star Wars geeks sleeping outside the theater to get tickets. The only thing missing is Triumph the insult comic dog.

It shocks me that people are paying a higher price for the AX8 when you could go all-out and get the current Axe-Fx II XL+ for the same amount or less.

Form factor for one. I don't want to set up a rack and would prefer to use the ax8 with my archon live as an FX processor in 4 cable method and then use the modeling with a P24 or something so I cab use the amp simulation for electric and acoustic sounds.
