Anyone ever have Bogner mod their Bogner?

Just wondering how the process goes and what I can expect to pay.

I have a 20th Shiva that I'd like to get some changes made to either the EQ or Gain structure. Seems no matter what I plug in to it guitar or speaker wise, the gain sounds have this hollow mid range, kind of like blowing in to a beer bottle?!?

Cabs I've tried: Orange 4x12(V30/75's X pattern), Marshall 1960BHW (Greenbacks), Marshall 1936 (75's)

I play a lot of staccato rhythms and palm muted chords. For reference, I have a VHT Deliverance 120 that nails the tone I like for this style.

I love the clean channel with FX which is mostly what I got it for, but if I could get the second channel more to my liking it might be my one amp solution.

I was considering having my old 20th Shiva modded, too. I wanted an independent boost for each channel and an FX loop on/off switch. I also found the midrange a bit hollow sounding...ultimately decided it wasn't worth it to have it modded and just stuck with the 20th Ecstasy and Twin Jet. I think a Shiva with a 100 watt, 4xEL34 power section would be killer.

I had both of my Uberschalls modded by a local tech to have KT88/EL34 bias switches. I don't think Bogner themselves could've done much better.

Man, having a great tech that you can trust like that is just awesome, isn't it?

Because you have him do so much work for you?

That's my problem. I've never had a shop that I trust as much as my current tech, and I've given them tons of business because of it.

Can't imagine wanting anything better or changed outta my 20thA - it's got all the bells and whistles. Only mod I've been wanting on all my amp is a 'talent boost' mod

No, because having the tech so convenient makes it very easy to spend lots of cash!

Get a hot pair of Winged C 6550 to try first.

^^ This was good advice and a fun experiment. I think it smoothed out the overall gain structure, reducing some of the punch, and added a little compression.

I also had a chance to run it through about 12 other 4x12's side by side and ended up really digging a Randall with G12H-100's. I think it may be the solution.... maybe.

I asked them (Bogner) about getting my amp modded and they said "They normally don't mod their amps, that's why they make different models."
I guess they were really busy or wanted me to buy another amp from them. ;)

+1 on this. I didn't dig the KT88s that much. They do have a freqency that sounds kinda hollow - good description...
