Yeah light strings and emg 81, v30's. I keep listening to the beginning of body hammer over and over. Lol
The closest I have got is with my voodu valve.

I know it's not the amp as proven above, but when I listened to the album here's what I thought.

Baritone 7 with EMG 81 > Tubescreamer boost > 5150 > EQ in the loop to cut a bit of 200-350Hz out > V30 cab possibly Mesa.

I think that could get you a good portion of the way there, I see you already have the 5150.

Last night I was trying this with a peavey ultra + (practically same as 5150) and a recto. I got pretty close, and really close while recording it. Both amps through recto cabs and Randall warhead cabs. I got really close to Dino's tone on Demanufacture and Obsolete.

Yeah, I can get them up tonight. I am still working with everything, so I am trying to get it as close as possible.
 
Yeah, let's hear it.
I can get pretty close a number of different ways but I really just want an amp that will do it on its own. I wonder how many metalhead mod 800's are in the wild.

I am a very picky recorder and don't like to post something if i'm not vompletrly happy with it. My standards are high for myself when recording :lol: :LOL:

For thread like this just look at everyone's sig, even if they want Killswitch Engage tone and they own a JC120. Yup, their Roland amp can nail that tone.

The origins of the Demanufacture Marshall are hard to pin down. Some say its a :

Metalhead mod (by a Russian dude named Ellan)
Martin Golub mod
CAE mod (variation of the 'Dookie' mod ???).

The interesting thing is I remember a magazine interview with Dino in the 90s where he said he had 2 or 3 of the Metalhead mods as a backup to his #1 modded 100w Marshall JCM800 (BTW stolen on the Obsolete tour. The only reason he switched to PODs). He said #1 is by far the best and he used the Metalheads as backups only. He did NOT say whether #1 was also a Metalhead mod or not.

He also said he was so impressed by #1 that he went back and got a few more modded which did not turn out as good as #1, (despite the modders best efforts), so they became backups. However, later he said he could not find the shop where #1 was done so who knows if the backups were done by the same guy.

I also remember seeing 1 or 2 Metalhead mod Marshalls with Fear Factory either spray painted on (or something else clearly designating it as Dino's amp) on Ebay 10 years ago and it caused a bit of a commotion because some thought the thief of #1 was selling it. Turns out the amps on Ebay were Dino's backups and the sale was legit. Dino simply didn't want them anymore.

If anyone remembers any of these interviews and incidents better than I do, feel free to correct any misinformation.

Here's the info that I've got on Elan:
Metalhead Mods:
Elan Memran was an EE for Yamaha at the time in LA. He and his brother had Metalhead studios on Cahuenga Blvd but he first started modding Marshalls out of his garage in Burbank for bands like Skid Row, Fear Factory, Assailant, and WASP. The Metalhead Modded Marshalls were popular in Hollywood during the 80's.

The extra jack beside the noise gate pot is a footswitch jack for switching the preamp mod in and out. This was the old-school way of getting a "clean" channel on a modded Marshall w/o building a separate preamp channel. The pull knob on the bass control is a bass boost mod. The 2 extra knobs by the input jack was a noise gate and extra gain controls. Both are push pull as well. Some amps also had a mid boost mod, activated by pulling the mid control knob similar to the bass boost. The loops are tube buffered.

Cool. When Elan briefly put out some production amps, did he have a chrome or silver preamp called the Excalibur ? I vaguely remember ads for some chrome face excalibur 'Metalhead' preamp in the late 80s/early 90's. I think they had the guitarist from Saga endorsing them. I wonder if this was Elan ?

Yes, the same guy. Attached is a pic of a power amp I believe was specific for Europe and the other is an ebay .pdf of a ELAN MK2 preamp.

Yes, that is an Elan preamp. It was the matching preamp to the red power amp made specifically for Axis Sound Company in Germany. Check out the back siggy on the power amp.
