A bit more sizzle. Yeah, it sounds closer now.

much better, pretty close man.

hey fortin where are those metalhead clips?

It does sound really close

When I get some free time, I'll do a Metalhead clip. Don't hold your breath for that happening soon

Cheers,
Mike

Well, I got some time to record today, and I think I got pretty close to his tone in this clip. The clips are with a peavey ultra plus with a Randall warhead cab.

Clip :D
Here is my guitar parts with the original track behind it:

Here is just my guitar track, Ok playing, made some mistakes because I'm tired tonight

It took long enough for me to get some clips up :D
Enjoy!

my cali mod gets pretty close but it is missing something, maybe switch it over to 6l6.
i wonder how close the mak 4 will get? herbert?

mako is too loose in its tone structure to even remotely get close - what i mean is that its possible overkill and would add too much. herbert is too compressed and has too much gain, but could be possible if you had someone with alot of mic's to try and with possible polishing in the studio. herbert I's are excellent in the studio but suck ass live, since you're talking about recorded tone then no doubt its possibly close - the warhead X2 would get you closer IMHO.
Mak4 and a Mako are entirely different animals. Get the Mak4 running through a very tight, dry poweramp (such as my set up with a Fryette 2/90/2) and you could do this with the Dorado channel. I am speaking very honestly.

with the Dino fortin amp and found this thread searching for some info.....recognised a few articles I originally posted as well ;)
here is a link to them all ..they came from a thread on the fractal board that turned into a bit of a flame war over dinos tone

here was a guy that picked up one of dinos modded marshalls years ago on ebay...god I wish I could have picked one up
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f30/i-jus ... -9078.html
FYI I contacted the guy but its long gone

I think its the greatest sounding metal amp of all time....the bite is there on lower tunings unlike the majority of amps that suffer from that spongey sound and the balls drop off

I'd pay some serious $$$$$ to get one of those metal head mods :D

some great info in this thread also!

I'm able to nail this tone with my pre 500 modded 2 ch triple recto, it's pretty close guys.
I'll update this post when I have a clip off of demanufacture recorded.

jk, ;)
Legion and Witchery FTW!!!

EMG 81...Mod Marshall for sure. I don't want to get into the whole "tone is in the fingers" thing, but I will tell you this: I was with Dino when he took an extended "test drive" with the Cameron CCV at the LA Amp Show. He brought his own guitar, and did some tweaking of the amp...But within about 10 minutes he was dialed in and playing some old Fear Factory riffs; And I'll be damned if it didn't sound pretty damn close to that elusive Demanufacture tone.

Still working on "demanufacture" but recorded some riffs from an old band I was in that has a lot of FF influence.

Double tracked, C90 panned left, V30 panned right.

Amp tone controls set at 1:00 except mids are cranked, bass at 12:00 and gain is at 9:00 unboosted.
What do you guys think?

As has been said many times before, recorded tones are at least 50% (if not more) the product of a studio and recording chain. Keep that in mind..

not this thread again. lol

I ended up getting a soldano modded by brian of bfg mods, but nowadays I have the axefx2 and it is pretty easy to get the demanufacture thing going.
Still one of the greatest metal tones ever in my book.
