It got release in Japan this week. Anyone got the inside track on it?

Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar....something like that....

I'll be in Japan in about 10 days and hope to find it. Paul is so popular there, they'll probably have his CD at the airport stores.

Heard 5 tracks from it played at NAMM... I'm buying it... that's for sure!

Already? I thought he just released get out of my yard not too long ago  . Kick ass cd by the way. Cant wait to hear this one!

I emailed Paul and asked him if, due to his success in Japan, he'd consider running for public office. He actually replied and said he didn't think he'd be able to get through the acceptance speech: "Do you have dog? Carrot go round?"

:D

Is it instrumental, or one of his pop rock discs, does anyone know?

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My brand new guitar instrumental CD is finished!

It is entitled:

SILENCE FOLLOWED BY A DEAFENING ROAR

It will be released in Japan on January 23rd.

SILENCE FOLLOWED BY A DEAFENING ROAR will be also be released in the USA and Europe. I'll have release dates soon, so please keep checking back for the news.

The album features 11 new tracks of my most ferocious, emotional, musical, and creative guitar playing ever.

The musicians on the album are:
Paul Gilbert (me): Guitar
Mike Szuter: Bass
Jeff Bowders: Drums
Emi Gilbert: B3 and Piano

If I had to use one word to the describe the new album... well, that would be impossible. And actually, so is most of the guitar playing. But above all, my goal was to make the album ROCK so I can have more good tunes to add to my LIVE show.

Just got the album. Compared to his last solo album, it's a bit more tame. It has a more cranked plexi, hard rock vibe going on. It sounds more like his normal solo albums, but without vocals, rather than a guitar solo album. Tone isn't as good as the previous album, either, IMO.

Wonder if he used the Vintage/Modern for most of this album. I've heard people complain that they don't like his tone with the VM - which surprises me because I never liked his tone with the Laney + pedals. I've seen the Namm video, but couldn't really get a good idea of how it sounded in person.
