Anyone into the band Avatar?

My daughter has been wanting to see In This Moment for some time and they played at The Electric Factory in Philly last week, so I took her. FWIW, I thought they put on a pretty solid show....and I mean show. Very theatrical and the singer changed outfits between every song.

With that said, one of the earlier bands was Avatar. They caught my attention. Show was very energetic and thought they sounded pretty good. I know nothing about them, but was impressed,with their show.

The band right before In This Moment (Motionless in White), on the other hand, put on a very uninspiring show from my perspective. The only time they really had much pep was on a cover of Chop Suey.

When I put the Octane channel on Sirius I hear these bands. It's hard to tell them apart from each other. Same production, same type of singers, same song structure, generic guitar playing. It's easy to see why the hard rock genre is really hurtin these days. All just IMHO.

Hey Tony!!! I like Avatar's music and I actually like the singer when he sings, but there are just too many cookies.

Did the singer have the Alice Cooper/Joker makeup for the show? He seems like he'd be pretty interesting to watch live.

Yes he did have the makeup on. The whole band wore circus type suit jackets.

Since posting this, I bought a couple of their albums on iTunes and it turns out I dig them.....glad I got to see them live. They put a lot of effort into doing a good show and were pretty tight. The opening riff in Hail the Apocalypse is pretty interesting use of the whammy bar.....they opened with that song.

That is a cool riff. I just watched a live clip of that song. Man those guys are nuts!
