Sm7b is a good mic. As always you want to match it with the singer and your signal chain. I usually use a u87 or u67 into a Manley preamp or a 1073 preamp into an 1176 then into an LA2A. For female vocals I use something else like a 251.
A lot of times my tube mice pair better with a solid state transformer pre and my fet pair better with tube preamps. But that’s just to my ear.
