Anyone play/played a Cornford amp?

If you don't/haven't.. Do it.

I know my recommendation won't mean much to everyone here but I played the cheapest amp out of the Cornford range and it sounded incredible, the EQ was really responsive, it was responsive to my playing, great tone, rich harmonics, great dynamics.

If it weren't for the Roadhouse 30 being a single channel amp I would have ditched the Jet City idea and just gone for the Cornford, sounded fantastic. The Jet City isn't fat behind though on the clean/crunch channel.

Had a MK50H and I loved the amp. Kind of like a SLO with darker mids to my ears. It was a fun amp to play, lots of guys say it is stiff but I must have gotten a special one, the lead tones were fluid and it just sounded amazing. One of 3 amps I wish I kept while on the amp merry go round.

I too had a Hellcat and Cornford 2x12 cab. Fantastic amp. Only reason I sold it was because I got into heavier music and wanted a different sound. I also had a MK50H for a short while and regret not keeping it...

I have an RK100 at the moment but haven't played any other Cornfords so I don't know how represantative it is for the brand as a whole.

My first impression was that it sounded a fair bit like the Jet City I was playing in the shop just before, sounded fantastic though.

the RK is voiced more cutting, and maybe not as much gain as the MK's, for sure not as much as the MK II's.

Ok, thanks... Still, the available is plentyfull for me. Do the Mk1 and 2 also do the violin-tone the RK does ?

^^ This, I had an RK100 but something was not right with it so I ended up working a deal out with the seller. I had it for 4 days and a friend of mine helped me get it somewhat working, things got loose on the shipping, when it was working well it sounded like a great Plexi style amp to me with a bit more low end. I think that amp would be amazing if you like open plexi type tones but want just a bit more. I liked the voicing of the MK50H a bit better at the time, today I think I would like the RK100 just a bit more.

Makes sense; in the end, it's a tweaked JMP

yup on the violin sustain, and seems like that part is even more noticible with the 5881's in the MK's.

The MK50H I had was an excellent amp. Like another posted, similar to an SLO but a little darker with lower mids. An SLO cuts with the upper mids. The MK50 cut with a unique treble. I thought the amp had great feel. Not stiff at all. It wasn't overly filtered by any means. It was a really nice tone. I was going to have Wally get me an MK100 built, but in the end I went a different direction. I trust Wally but I didn't want to end up waiting a year or more which is what happened when I had a deposit in for one. I eventually got a refund when I found a used one. Here was my MK50H. I bought it from Vic. I later put it in a new Cornford black headshell. Another member has it now and loves it. He has two of them.

i made the mistake of taking up the offer of plugging into a Cornford RK100 stack at a local guitar store.
im already a mega huge Kotzen fanboi, but this amp had the gain tone (that also cleaned up with guitar volume) that i have been lusting for ever since.. when i went back home, i couldnt even look at my framus cobra.

way too pricey for me and severe overkill, but im still lusting for a cornford and when im rich enough (and worthy enough) i will own one...but most likely one of the lower watt combos or the roadhouse 30.

For the money, I would certainly expect a Cornford to outshine a Jet City. Damn, you are talking very high end compared to a budget amp.

Awesome clip!

I bought a Hellcat without ever trying one, and was blown away by how much I loved that amp. I've had an MK50 before, and loved that, as well.

An MK50 II is about tthe only amp I'd spring for these days; haven't had any amp GAS for quite a while, but if I saw a fair deal on one of those, I'd be sending the "I'll take it" pm :D

It did outshine it, in a way I wish I'd never played the Cornford, now my GAS is flaring up, the Jet City is fantastic, the Cornford is just a little nicer, unfortunately it's a single channel amp and I don't know if I could deal with that.

The MKII is two channel and has great cleans

I would totally go for the Mk II if it was within budget, the Roadhouse 30 is, at the reasonable price of only £600, the Jet City being £700, discounted to £550. The MK II is something like £1199.

:(

I love me some Cornford. The first one Itried was a RK100 about 5 years ago. I did not get to pump up the volume, so it was ah. I did play Josh's MK50 and cyndicates Carrera. I really like them both. For the price, the Roadhouse is really cool. I enjoyed playing one of them. It is a simple amp and Marshally.
