anyone played a plexi with a cab with Vintage 30's?

I've got my 1960BX and I dig the greenbacks, just got another cab to load up and was thinking of trying V30's - I do know I like the Greenbacks

and there you go - that's why there's so much gear and different stuff works for different people If I had a cab loaded with V30's to check out I would spend some time with it, but since I got Greenbacks in my other cab and I really like them, I'll just stick with that. Too expensive for me to just go experimenting.

I bought a Marshall Greenback cab a few years ago loaded with UK Greenies and absolutely hated it with my 50 watt plexi. It was so bright it was unuseable for me. I have a Metro build with all NOS Mustards, A&B CC resistors, NOS Siemens EL34s, and real Mullard Blackburn pres that sounds as damn close to an actual plexi as I have ever heard...didn't work with the GBs to me though.

I have run my oldies (68 and 73) with a Bogner Cube with V30 and like how that sounds, it's different than greenbacks but it sounds good.

Im running a JMP 50 watter with an Orange 4x12 and V30s. I like it, but I know that g12h-30s will be added soon. A little too much honk for me.

so the V30's were darker than the Greenbacks?

I had a 1959x with a Legacy 412 with V30s and GBs. Had a 2203x with the same cab. I had that cab for a long time. I regret selling it. It sounded good but I preferred to mix the GB when recording.

However, I may have been equally if not as satisfied with it with just GBs. My 212 currently has 2 GBs.

Way darker once they are broken in.

If you like GB's you also may like 65's or CL80's....similar voiced but clearer.

Someone did a clip a while back of the Chinese vs British version of the V30. One didn't sound so good.
