I was thinking about getting one ?
I have a 1999 strat custom deluxe I put a dimarzio ys3
In the bridge was wondering combined if the dod will get good tones ?
Thanks
Jim

Get the new DOD Overdrive Preamp 250. $99 I just posted a few clips of it. The 308 is very brittle.

Wow thanks !!
I went n checked out a few different ones .
I must say I'm very impressed they all sounded great !!
Jim

There are modifications on the internet for either (250 or 308) that make them even better...I have a YJM 308 that ws modified by a local tech to me and it's awesome...I got the specs for the mod off the 'net and gave it to him. Works better with single coils than humbuckers though...

Exactly, sucks with humbuckers unless you mod one of the caps but then ya get a bit more high end. It's boss with single coils though! Malmsteen/Blackmore in a box.

Thanks for the humbucker heads up !
I don't think that the hs3 is that much like most humbucker sit is a stacked humbucker but very mild compared most that is the guitar I would use my strat .

Outlier mod ! My YJM308 is a shred machine. Has a toggle switch for humbucker or single coil. Stock pedal is a noisy piece of shit. Modded the thing Unleashes the Fury !

Mine is not Outlier spec...it's Analog Man Old Gray Spec which makes it quieter and thicker. It still sucks with humbuckers...and no, it's great with stacked humbuckers....it just isn't great with traditional side by side humbuckers.

I had mine modded by Analogman and then I had the Outlier mod done. I have a lot of cash in this stupid pedal !

At least they're cheap to buy initially...I think I got mine for 99 bucks from American Musical Supply...

Outlier mod here as well.... I think he makes his own clones now doesn't he?? Maybe just go direct for one of those and skip the noisy middle man...

"noisy piece of shit" LOL

Yeah i had the original one, no mods. It sounded pretty decent but SO noisy.

I use mine (no mods) with a humbucker equipped guitar and I think it sounds great, really tightens things up and doesn't sacrifice bottom end like some of the TS variants.

I'll agree with the above statement about not losing bottom, and I should also say that the sucks with humbuckers thing is VERY dependent on what amp you're running it into...

Well I guess it's it all subject to opinion ?
I have heard clips of stick ones that sound great but I'm
sure cranked is a different story .
I'm sure it also depends on how much gain you use before the pedal ?
Thanks for the replies !!!
Jim

FWIW, my stock pedal wasn't noisy at all...it was whisper quiet. Quieter than my BOSS SD-1, OD-1, or Ibanez TS9 re-issue.

There are certain pedals that for me are live, cranked in a mix, pedals.
This is one.

I have a KILLER stacked rig with a Fulldrive MOSFET and Keeley Baked TS9.
Live it's untouchable. Sitting in a room by yourself playing through a quiet amp it sounds average at best.
They're live pedals.

Many pedals I've used sound great in a room but loud with a band get completely lost.

Good Treble boosters are another example.

Badronald I know exactly what your saying where you are playing and volume play a huge part in the quality of sound . Just as you said some effects wash at high volumes
While others just come to life !!!
Well also certain guitars depending on pickups wood ect work better with certain effects and on and on !!
Thanks for the reply !!
Rock on!!!
Jim

Badronald is totally right about that...never really made that connection before but it really is true.

I bought one last week and only got to try it out the other day dor a short while and was underwhelmed to say the least..
Having said that it ws only a few minutes so ill persevere and grow to like it..
Is noisy though . . ..
