Anyone try the 3rdpower amplifier rig at the Nashville show?

3RD POWER closed the the Nashville Amp Expo with the highest overall SPL reading, a whopping 128.2 dB! Check out the photo showing the actual meter reading (and a cracked iPhone)...

That got my attention :D

The clips sound great, nice rare plexi type roar with string seperation.

BTW about 2 more weeks

ahhhhh Yeah!! 2 weeks!~!

I like the tone of the 3rd powers. It's pretty much the type of tone that I would like a Plexi to have. all IMHO of course!
They might take some shit for the cab but I dig it bigtme!

they had 220W and NINE 12s to make that 128 dB

i didn't get a chance to try em out, though.

THe triangle shaped cabs seem kind of limiting to me unless you get 2 of them so you can still stack stuff on top (or 3 like they usually picture). Are the 3 speaker cabs or is it just a bunch of waisted space above a 2 x 12???

The cab is in the shape of a triangle and features 3 speakers and you put the amp head on top. Its meant to work as a w/d/w cab built in. The speaker all the way to the left can be loaded with effects, the center is dry and the right speaker also has effects. I think it looks killer but if you wanted more cabs your kind of screwed because I don't see being able to stack them without using a shitload of cabs lol :D

I talked to Josh Sage today and he said they were incredible. He heard them at the Nashville show. I wish they made a two channel version with a loop. :aww:

Awesome!! With that said, I hear you about the two channels but I think if you are going to use a w/d/w setup with that and lug the extra shit, you could always use something else as a 2nd channel!! YOU ROCK MT CHAPSTICK :hys: I just caught your reply on Facebook :hys:
Im having a huge PITA with the LP's tuning

I spent both days in the 3rd Power room at the Expo. I never got tired of hearing the amp.

I'm going to bump my review of the amp in this thread.

For those of you concerned about the cabinets....They are making single triangle cabinets with a side-saddle locking system on the side so you can still put the amp head on the side in the case that you don't get all three cabs. I have my 3rd Power Amp on order right now, and I plan to do the single cab side saddle thing to start with.

For reference, the 128.2 reading was obtained with the whole rig set up and running, but the middle cab was the only one mic'd at the time. Overall there was 220 watts pushing total, but only the head was running through the middle cab. I believe the rating when we checked just a single cab setup was just barely under 128.

If anyone has questions feel free to shoot me a message.

I have found that this amp really has a 3 channel type of thing going even in the one channel set-up.
The amp cleans up VERY nice by good use of the volume control on your guitar.
The Lead boost switch also makes for what would be a 3rd channel on the amp.

So you have your normal OD tone, plus the ability to go very clean with the guitar, then the lead boost for an over the top OD channel.

It's a very versatile amp.
