TAD can suck my balls! fucking relabelers for the most part!

only EL-34B i know of is a Tung-sol, they are cool tubes, but picky about what amp they'll be cool in. they kill in a VH4. the Tung-sol have a green colored base.

never say never, but unless it's something they don't have, i don't see buying tubes from anybody but Willie (aka Lordvavle in Denver) or Doug at Doug's tubes.

I have a set that came in a RM50. Sound pretty good to me. They are a back up set now to a set of new Ruby 6550's that Dougs Tubes rec'd to me.

FWIW, my second-hand 2006 Herbert had stock tubes which were 6xTAD EL34STR.
I recently put in 4xSED =C= EL34 + 2xSED =C= 6L6, re-biased the new tubes, and the amp now sounds WAY better IMO.
Better attack and definition, and more thumping low end. Also some more compression but that is probably partially due to the pair of 6L6 I threw in, plus the fact that I need to re-check the bias again after having had them running for a while now.
So far, I much prefer the SED over TAD
(btw I play metal/hard rock in standard tuning, if you were wondering)

yeah, I had the TAD EL34B stock in my Herbert too. I think they're an ok tube, pretty well balanced overall. Like mentioned, they are just select versions of the Shuguang, just like Ruby. They sound great in the right amp. I like the Tungsol EL34B quite a bit too, nice tight bottom end and a lot of bite in the mids with an interesting growl. They really do exhibit some 6L6 qualities like the descriptions IMO, while still sounding like an EL34 when pushed. The SED Winged =C= are still probably my favorite EL34 however, they have a real nice complexity in the midrange harmonics when you push them, and the bottom is still thick without going out of control. They are also the most reliable EL34 tube I've tried. They seem to just lose their sound qualities and volume when they are shot, rather than shorting out and red-plating like a lot of others. You can literally run those things into the ground if you needed to.
