I recently picked up a vetta combo and I'm really digging the versatility and all the amp models. I was wondering if anyone has one that could help me find settings, and teach me any tricks as I've never really had a procesor before.

Also, I was jamming on it at rehersal the other day and when I was on channel "C," all of a sudden the volume would start to cut. when that happened I would press the C on the floorboard and it would reset but like every so often you would have to do it again. any thoughts on what causes that?

Thanks All

DAmn, I had all but forgotten about that thing. They were quite the rage when they first appeared IIRC....

I gigged with the combo for about a year...maybe 4 or 5 years ago. It was cool but it definitely lacks that tube feel. However, for a cover band, it'd be killer.

As for the cutting in and out, some of the early ones have heat issues, get a fan to help that. My buddy had a real early one and had to run a fan on his to keep it cool through the set.

check the armin mod
don't forget about the "loudness" setting that takes care of the fletcher-munson curve issue (supposedly)

I don't know what any of those words mean  ... I've had this for 4 days lol and if 5150 isn't on the front it takes me a while lol. Can u elaborate that for me?

The Fletcher munson curve in short means that we as humans perceive tones differently at higher volume levels than at quieter ones. If the Vetta has a control called "loudness" that is based on the FM curve, it's probably a very wide midrange EQ centered in the middle of the audible frequency spectrum.

hahaha sure.

The Armin mod was (perhaps still is) a software mod that correctly renames the amps/cab models, tweaks a few parameters for more "tube like" sound and also added some extra models if I remember correctly.
Just google Line 6 Vetta Armin Mod for more info.

Flecther Munson Curve, long story short, is the reason why your amp sounds great at home then you turn it up and it sounds like ass.

New Features in Vetta™ II Version 2.5
Wah modeling
Foot controlled pitch shifter
Ducking delay
Six new amp models
Fletcher Munson loudness compensation curve for accurate tone across a wide range of volumes
Dedicated Solo Boost function
Improved Tuner stability
Additional footswitch assignments
Syncs Tap Tempo to MIDI clock

so, read thru that manual and find the appropriate setting.

other than that, my best advice is to try and get a good sound without your cab sims on and only use the cab sims for direct recording/sound

I've never had the chance to own one, but I know alot about them and used to gig with a Line 6 HD147 which is sorta like a little bro to the Vetta series.

oh yeah, and go ahead and invest, if you haven't already, on something so that you can hook the amp to your computer.
then download line 6 monkey and get all the software and updates so that your jank is up to the lastest versions.

l6 edit is great for creating sounds

Awesome thanks so much... also I was reading on the L6 forum that some people had issues if they didn't use a voltage regulater. Anyone know anything about that?

like a power conditioner?

I asked that too and got no answer lol... they legit say voltage regulator... the pic he had up was a box that plugs in the wall and has outlets to plug ur shit into. i dunno if theres a difference

interesting....seems like that wouldn't be necessary....but I'm not an electrical engineer or anything.

a quick google search makes it seem like they aren't very expensive, might be worth a shot.

have you experienced the volume loss if you don't have your footswitch plugged in? in other words, test to make sure footswitch isn't causing the problems.

also...have you messed with the loop at all? might be dirty/have debris in the jacks.

another suggestion would be getting some contact cleaner and giving all the jacks a good once over.

i have contact cleaner ill do that and test the foot theory tonight... i hope its not the fbv... they're soooo freakin expensive for what they are

so last night it worked fine... who knows?!?!?! Theres no usb connection on the amp I wonder how Im supposed to connect it to the comp for using the line 6 edit? Midi i guess?

hmm, i'd be willing to bet the footswitch is doing something funky.

here's another question - have you done a factory reset? just to make sure the previous owners didn't do anything that may mess with your settings.

yeah i think you have to get a Midi to USB cable...they are on sweetwater and MF, but you will want to check on the l6 forum to make sure which ones will work with your amp. I bought one that would NOT work with my old HD147, but it's been so long ago I can't remember specifics.

Yes i used an M-Audio Uno and it worked perfectly. I say used because my Vetta II combo plus extension cab was replaced by an Axe Ultra a couple years ago and now i have the Axe2, but i still own the Vetta II and it is a very good sounding amp for sure. You can get endless tones out of it.

Playing it with the extension cab gives great stereo sounds

Awesome thanks man!!! Im new to the processors game but I'm digging it so far. lots of options. Can I use Line6 Edit on the Vetta? cause only the Vetta II is listed
