I am thinking about picking up addictive drums.

I have always used my Korg Karma or Roland XV5050 synth module for drum sounds, but it does take awhile. Was wondering if Addictive might be more efficient and have better samples than my keyboards?

Guitar center has it for $199 with a $45 rebate and I have a 10% off coupon as well.

I use it, it's great and sounds amazing, my only complaint is that I'd like more premade beats than it has in the first box. But theres still quite a few and it really is a piece of cake!

addictive drums is amazing! it will smoke what you currently are using.

I went and bought it today. It smokes my Korg's drum sounds. My Roland has pretty good sounds, but AD is still way better.

I loaded it up no problem, but was getting lost on how to sync a midi track to it....finally figured it out being the easy drag/drop into cubase. LOL... The Plus side of this program for me is quality sounds, and the fact that I don't have to try and move each drum part(snare, etc) into another midi track and try lining everything up...plus using effects to tweak on each midi track before mixdown to audio. By having it all in AD, it is gonna save me hella time on my original stuff! Man, I don't put much new originals out cuz the fuckin drums have always taken me forever since I write in different time sigs.

Anyway...just thought I would post since I am excited!

I did notice that the fills were pretty slim....I hope I can sharpen my keyboard chops!

AD is the bomb. Almost everything I record these days when writing is all AD.

Heres a track i did with AD:

Fuckin A man! That was the most rockin original clip I have heard on a forum in awhile!

Damn....did you do all the midi yourself, or did you get extra midi files like the medal pack? I read you can incorp Groove Monkey midi files into AD??

One more question.....did you use a keyboard or drums if not midi files?

I have the groove monkey stuff but I barely use it. Honestly i just go through and program it by hand. vary the velocities like a real drummer would hit stuff and well just go for it haha.

That is great! So you use a keyboard or write in the midi hits?

I bet it still doesn't take as much time as if you were to just try it without AD. Any special tweaks you do over the preset kits, or just play it by ear?
I kinda dig the vintage kit sound....reminds me of old Sabbath records....Man this program is awesome!

I just go through with a mouse and program each hit individually. I can't play drums at all but I have a pretty solid understanding of how to I guess.

As for tweaks yeah I did a ton of tweaking on the drums and such. I went to the AD site and downloaded the egg preset and kind of started with that one, but theres so many cool kits you can pretty much nail any kind of drum tone. The only other drum stuff I could recommend are the Steven Slate drum samples and such, but those are mostly just for sound replacement when need be.

Cool!!! Then I know I can do it! I have listened to that tune now a few times....really dig it! Not just the drums...everything! :)

We spent some time changing the midi notes on some Roland V-drums to use the AD samples. Once we got the latency issues figured out, we are getting KILLER drum sounds direct to record. sounds amazing   Have spent a couple of years miking up drum kits, we never got close to this!
