Arch Enemy's new singer gives me a boner

I don't like the music as much as other stuff as I'm a hair metal guy, but it's still got a nice change in the feel to the chorus and the drummer is killing it. Plus, she is totally smokin' hot. Alyssa was pretty, but seemed like she'd be an insufferable bitch. This Lauren Hart seems like you'd catch her on the weekend working on her old pickup truck in the driveway.

I was referring to the OP's clarification that the new singer does not, I repeat does not, give him a boner.

Deleting the thread would help avoid it degenerating into a discussion about erectile dysfunction.

I never have liked female vocals for death/black metal. Just weird seeing a chick and hearing that sound IMO.

Arch Enemy is a really odd band

They haven't had a really consistently good record since that dude (Johan?) from that one band sang with them, IMO

But that first angela gossow record had some bangers (Ravenous, Dead bury their Dead)

Their problem has always been consistency - their records will have a couple of stone cold killer tracks and a whole bunch of filler

I'm gonna be honest I haven't paid a ton of attention to them for years, the whole thing seems like a gimmick - as if they are the first extreme band to ever have a chick singer lol

If you asked metalcucks or some "metal" journo that's probably the answer they would give you

They honestly seem like a band that really skates by on little effort, especially songwriting wise, but spends a whole fuckton of money on production

I honestly think that Trivium should go a similar route and get a female vocalist. Matt Heafy sounds horrible nowadays, and it could get them more traction with fans who can still have boners.

I'll always have a soft spot for Arch Enemy, they were one of the first "extreme" bands I got into. The first few albums were pretty solid, and I liked a smattering of stuff later. My biggest gripe is that they lost a lot of the death metal edge later. It seems like the guitar playing firepower that has passed through that band would warrant more ripping.

Also, I can kinda see what OP is saying in certain photos, but the shot the band picked for the announcement is about as unflattering as it could be.
