Are there any guitar plugins that can rival Axe FX?

I would be weary of latency....it's never going to have the immediacy of a real amp IMO.

True story, but the stuff posted is gonna murder what he’s using now. Plus the Mercuriall stuff is really close to the Axe in immediacy, which is one of the reasons I went that route and sold the Axe.

Really??? Very curious... I haven't tried out the Axe, and only the Kemper for a moment at NAMM (which is NOT a fair assessment at all)... every plugin I've ever tried I can 'feel' the latency, and even noticed it in the Two Notes CAB... the only unit I don't feel it in is my ISP Theta Pro.

HOWEVER, the latency with the Reaxis and the U530 is very close to the feel of my Theta Pro... I always thought the Axe, being a big hardware unit, wouldn't have that latency feel thing going on... the Mercuriall stuff is so damn close to the Triaxis and the E530 (I've owned them both twice) it's quite amazing... and I LOVE that you can disengage the preamps (I feed my Theta Rack Preamp into their virtual power amps and cab for some alternatives to my Theta Pro, which can't load other IR's other that what it comes with).

And by the way... is there a way to run the Reaxis/U530 outside of my DAW (I use Reaper), or do they require a DAW to work? Just curious, as I'm old and have been hanging on to my physical gear as long as possible... :)

I don’t know if it will help out with latency, but FWIW I’ll be running with 64 PCI lanes, just to give you an idea of what I’m running on.

Dude it’s not exactly the same, for sure.....but out of all the plugins I’ve tried (there have been a LOT) the Merc stuff is the closest in feel to the Axe.

So far, you need to run them as plugins in your DAW, but a lot of us have been asking for that feature; I’d love to run a line out from my interface to a poweramp/cab combo using ReAxis!

^^^^^^^^

That's awesome to know... thanks for the info.

Yeah, the Merc stuff seems pretty damn nice, I must say... ESPECIALLY the power sections on both units... and the fact you can disengage the pre's on either one and run the other through it's power section is SUH-WEET...

Those guys thought long and hard about what features they wanted.

Yeah, now they just need to bundle all of them together for a sweet price and take over the plugin world lol
