The radiation belt argument is stupid. Especially because radiation is something that is taken very seriously and is a big limiting factor to human exploration. It was calculated to be safe before the mission(s) and it was. You guys chose to laugh at it, but the gene therapy I was talking about in another thread is in part focusing on making humans less susceptible to radiation so that they can spend more time in space.

You thinking that we haven’t returned to the moon is again your own shortcoming. It’s not easy to get there so obviously we need a reason to. After the Apollo missions (yes more than one group of men made it there) there wasn’t any scientific relevance to go back

Now there is. The Artemis missions have a plan and now we are interested in going back.

You're trying to reason with multiple generations of people now who were raised on star wars, star trek, buck rogers, and so many sci fi movies from their formative years. These tools of propaganda have cemented the idea of space travel as a possibility in their minds.

I had all that same stuff though. I think at some point I just started realizing they lie left and right and started questioning all the stories. I guess a distinguishing factor is that I don’t get any benefits, EG professional, personal, status, etc. from believing their stupid crap. And it’s not just “Virtue signaling” to tout the party line. It’s the ticket to the lunch table with the “Cool” kids. Except they’re not cool. They’re ghey and evil.

Radiation is however a limiting factor, at the moment, to how long a person could stay on the moon (or other planet). Radiation in space is no joke, the van Allen belt keeping us out of space is a joke
