I think that is a pretty swell question. I think you are looking at the future as fixed and unchangeable. Make a plan. Sometimes you are forced to alter that plan to accommodate circumstances that come up suddenly. Do you throw your hands up and say "welp, can't do anything about that since it's already planned". No, there are considerations to take into account. I do think prayers are received as considerations of a sort.

I saved a clip a while back that I wish I could find, but it was a guy talking about science and prayer in relation someone having a medical procedure.
He spoke about how it’s perfectly reasonable to “believe” in the benefits of both. You can understand the science behind the medicine and procedures, but also pray that the doctor or surgeon got a good night’s sleep, paid attention in class when they were covering this procedure, makes the right decisions at the right time etc.

pretty interesting

I figured they weren't worth a dang since a) they were free and b) were made in china
Kinda makes you wonder...

Faith in Quick Test Leads to Epidemic That Wasn’t
Nytimes, 2007
https://web.archive.org/web/20111226022430/https://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/22/health/22whoop.html

For months, nearly everyone involved thought the medical center had had a huge whooping cough outbreak, with extensive ramifications. Nearly 1,000 health care workers at the hospital in Lebanon, N.H., were given a preliminary test and furloughed from work until their results were in; 142 people, including Dr. Herndon, were told they appeared to have the disease; and thousands were given antibiotics and a vaccine for protection. Hospital beds were taken out of commission, including some in intensive care.

Then, about eight months later, health care workers were dumbfounded to receive an e-mail message from the hospital administration informing them that the whole thing was a false alarm.

Not a single case of whooping cough was confirmed with the definitive test, growing the bacterium, Bordetella pertussis, in the laboratory. Instead, it appears the health care workers probably were afflicted with ordinary respiratory diseases like the common cold.

Now, as they look back on the episode, epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists say the problem was that they placed too much faith in a quick and highly sensitive molecular test that led them astray.

No, you were trying to avoid the word or concept of faith. Not sure why you finally changed your mind.

Lol not at all dude. I’m am just more aware than you that we’ve had this same conversation like 5 fucking times on other topics.
Dont complain that I talk down to you when you make me explain things to you like a child.

Sure, you've conceded that you have faith in a lot of stuff that some of us are skeptical about. I don't think you were being condescending though, just evasive. It's okay, you're a man of great faith. Be proud of it.

Lol Perhaps refresh yourself on the definition of “faith” before you feel clever.
Not to mention it was clear as day what angle you were going for which is why I told you to call it faith if it makes you happy in the very beginning of the conversation.
Time for some new material bro.

But I thought you didn’t have a problem with the use of the term. Now it sounds like you do ?‍♂️

Regardless, you could have phrased it differently if you had wanted… I was actually more interested to get into the scientific details.

Faith=complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

You have a high degree of trust in science so he's not really inaccurate with his claim.

He’s been waiting hours to call me a “man of faith” lol

I thought we were talking about round objects in space
You guys sure like to get off topic. Wait.
But seriously, @acceptance and @Aynirar27 you both have great debate skills
I respect you guys because I don't have the patience for all the back and forth, but it is entertaining.
Are you guys retired or something :dunno:

Ill tell you what bro. Everyone insisted I take a covid test way back and I didn't lose my smell until right AFTER I took the test. Haven't taken one since and I won't ever again.
Seriously? That sucks. Did it come back at all? My wife has been losing her sense of smell for quite some time, going back pre-covid actually. She has done every study under the sun. She just started a new one too but I can't remember the name of it. Every now and then she says she 'thinks' she can smell something but then it fades to her mind simply playing tricks on her. :(

Yeah it came back. It could totally be coincidence, but the swabs are treated with ethylene oxide, which can expose one over time and is not without risk. Could be other chemicals involved as well. I’m low trust on these things ?‍♂️

Sorry to hear about your wife!

I work way too much. Or I should say I'm AT work way too much. I don't really have a 9-5 so I basically just work when I'm needed. Like right now I'm at work. We are having some major power issues at a facility that I'm not legally allowed to work on. Put I'm in charge of the facility so here I am twiddling my thumbs and catching up on some paperwork while I wait a couple hours for an electrician to show up.

That makes sense. And so when you have downtime (which could be any time of day really) you can jump on your phone and browse/post? Assuming? Must be nice. Hoping my next job might allow me to do that.

Do you have to also go in late at night etc too?

yea I pretty much do all of my posting on my phone. Ironically right now I'm on a laptop eating cold corn beef hash from the kitchen with dirty power, but usually it's all cell phone. There are occasional late nights but they are few and far between. It would have to be a real emergency (no heat, flood, fire alarm) for me to go in once the kids are in bed.

My daughters had a 45 minute long JoJo Siwa dance party last night. For my own sanity I put in some headphones and explained to someone that I believe that a machine that tests for covid is capable of testing for covid. It's an interesting life I guess.
