To an outsider, if you believe God has a plan for you, or anyone for that matter, it would seem your prayer for them wouldn’t really have an effect on the outcome. If his plan for my aunt was for her to pass next week, would me praying for her recovery “trump” His original plan?
I guess to distill it down, are prayers received as “considerations” to alter the plan?

Ill tell you what bro. Everyone insisted I take a covid test way back and I didn't lose my smell until right AFTER I took the test. Haven't taken one since and I won't ever again.

But you don't know that it works. I don't understand how my iphone works, but I can verify that it does the things it is claimed to do. you have nothing to compare your test results to, no way of validating the tests for yourself.

I don’t need to. Hence the scientific method.

I think that is a pretty swell question. I think you are looking at the future as fixed and unchangeable. Make a plan. Sometimes you are forced to alter that plan to accommodate circumstances that come up suddenly. Do you throw your hands up and say "welp, can't do anything about that since it's already planned". No, there are considerations to take into account. I do think prayers are received as considerations of a sort.
